Whassup Guys,
I'm having a hard time finding House Of Kolor paint in the UK. At some point soon I'd like to try some Urethane paint, but I seem to be having a tough time finding a supplier. Anyone know of the best place to go? Cheers.

I tried that Site, but when you go to look at the colours it takes you to another weird looking site that gives the data sheets but no prices or oppertunity to buy. Cheers for looking though Malky.

Try sending thrm an email to find out what they actually do there, I would:)

I'll give them a whirl. I found another UK stockist on the HOK site, but they don't appear to have a website!

To be honest it doesn't have to be HOK. If anyone knows of another decent Urethane brand that I can get here.

Sure, which is no bad thing I guess. I have a decent Automotive place near me, but I can't see any airbrush specific stuff in their site, so I'll give them a bell in the morning. Mate, predictive / auto correct does my head in too

It might not be my phone, it could be my Scottish accent, lol

Do you need just "random" (usual) urethane colours, I mean from non effect paint pallet? Or those candies, flakes, pearls etc?

Probably just some primaries and a candy for now. Something that I can have a play with. People talk of the difference in the flow between Urethane and Waterbased, but being new to airbrush, I haven't experienced it, so I have no frame of reference. I'm enjoying the paint I have, but because my interest lies in automotive, I'd like to try some and see the difference for myself if that makes sense.

@SiRoxx This may be a long'ish post so i apologise now.

I was going to mention Jawel's they have been going for decades. There's a shop about 3 miles from me and another 2 shops within 8 miles but if you check their website they have a store map.
However I did hear of inconsistencies in the paint, and once that it wasn't HOK. This was hearsay so I can't confirm that story and that was several years ago. I only know this because I have a few good friends who paint professionally for a living and we all used to meet up at a friends paint shop a couple of times per week. Where we would talk paint, airbrushes and spray guns whilst drinking tea and stuffing biscuits lol
Jawel's do other urethane/2k paint for spraying cars which if thinned work just as well.

Alternatively there are:

Inspire Solvents
Airbrush Series (new)

I have some Inspire solvents and they are pretty good but as with all solvents a proper respirator is essential. They have a website and also they are on Ebay. They've been going for about 8 years and have a good selection of colours, candies, flake and pearl powders.

I am going to be trying the Airbrush Series hopefully in the next week or two. They have been developed my Mick Neill at the Airbrush Academy specifically for airbrush use. He also released a water based set a couple of weeks ago... I believe he has been working on both of them for a year or two.
I've done a couple of classes with Mick and have spent a fair few hours at his workshop and studio drinking coffee and eating biscuits lol. So i am confident that they will be good as he wouldn't release them unless he was happy with them. I will do a review as soon as I can get my grubby little fingers on them.

PS: Mick is an automotive custom painter as well as airbrush artist so since you are interested in that side of things he may be good to speak to at some point.

I use only urethanes and just any I've tried is good, even the cheapest line.
You don't need buying HoK especially if it concerns solid basecoats, there are other brands that are cheaper and work just great. Remember that HoK is custom paints line, so the price is as for custom paint:)
Try to find people who are in colour matching for car refinishing, I don't know how it called there locally. There are a lot of such here and I can buy quantity from 100ml of each colour. The paint comes unreduced (thick), so you have in the end when reduced with a thinner big amount of paint, bigger than you actually buy. Try some from Sikkens, DuPont, PPG, Standox, Spiec Hecker etc... I don't know what is available there. It should be 1K basecoat line.
Candies you can also buy from other brands, again I don't know what's available at your place. I know people don't like Alsa candies as their very light-fast, HoK candies are better, they say.
Other effect paints you can find also from other brands at lower prices. There are good shops in the US.
I wouldn't buy basecoats from HoK as there's actually no reason for that, why to pay more? Though, their range for effect paints is good.

Thanks Lee. Don't apologise for a lengthy post when it has that amount of useful information! That's a big help Buddy. After having a good look last night I'd pretty much decided to give Inspire a go, but I might hang on for the Airbrush Series range if they're coming soon. I've also watched a few of Mick's videos and agree that he's not likely to put his name to a sub par paint, not with a successful business to promote. I've been on the Specialist Paints website, but will have a look at the Mick Neil link. Thanks again Mate, that's a big help.

Cheers Vlad. That's a really good point regarding the fact that they're custom colours. I've decided not to go with HOK for the bases, as you say there are other options. I appreciate the information and the suggestions for other known brands. Many thanks.
