House of Kolor UK

PS: Mick is an automotive custom painter as well as airbrush artist so since you are interested in that side of things he may be good to speak to at some point.

Ps to your Ps [emoji3]. Thanks for the warning about the respirator. I have a decent proper respirator as I have done some 2k clear coating in the past. I wear that while painting with water based. But I'm going to buy a new one before playing with the Urethanes, just to be safe.

Thanks Lee. Don't apologise for a lengthy post when it has that amount of useful information! That's a big help Buddy. After having a good look last night I'd pretty much decided to give Inspire a go, but I might hang on for the Airbrush Series range if they're coming soon. I've also watched a few of Mick's videos and agree that he's not likely to put his name to a sub par paint, not with a successful business to promote. I've been on the Specialist Paints website, but will have a look at the Mick Neil link. Thanks again Mate, that's a big help.

Mick has the paint available now and i couldn't believe the price when i looked. I've only just started getting some work so can't afford a set yet but will get a couple of colours in both the solvent and the water based to see how they play. I know he tests everything intensively before he sells it. He did a clearcoat a few years back and it was fantastic, took him ages to get it how he wanted it.
Like @Vladimir said you can get basecoat as good as hok and cheaper, i went to buy a litre of blue basecoat at Jawel's it was £25 quid i think, hok was £65 a big difference. They are good for the candies and special coatings though.
When you speak to people who paint professionally you find out about what paint is good and not good and why, hence why i said what i did in the other post.

I saw they're available now, I think I will get a couple in a week or so and give them a whirl. I'll be interested in your review too. I'll have another look for some bases on the Jawel site too. But it's encouraging to know his clear coat came out well.

On HOK , I mainly use their Candys and some of the trick paint. For base I use PPG or SEM a lot of times.
But the new shirmiron II I am just starting to learn the mixing system because you can put a lot of efx in the base alone.

BTW, I remembered smth about the candies. I sometimes was said to try ones from Max Mayer and as I was said their candies are called some kind "inks for painting motorcycles". So if you have Max Mayer paint lines locally, you could ask the sellers for candies. I was sent four colours and tried them. They behave normally while working with them, but I can't say about the light-fastness as no tests I did under the direct sunlight.
I tried to find Max Mayer's candies on their site, but not succeeded.
And you could use their basecoats for ABing.

@Mr.Micron have you tried "Paint with pearl" products? If so, how do you find them?
I thought to buy some of their wide range of pigments, they have reeeally large stock and it's good field for our creative imagination. Prices are more than sweet, they're sweet concentrate:)

Thanks again Vlad, I'll have a look into some of those options and see if I can get them locally. Always appreciate a recommendation though.
