Started working on this today. Createx Illustration paint on birch plywood. Trying out white with 4030 to see if it sprays like urethane paint. I think it does just a little. Still get tip dry, but not anywhere near white on its own. Just finished the base layer of white. No reference other than Revelation 19.[IMG]

I did find the 4030 in the white did help to make it spray like urethane paint but it did cause som tip dry. Working so tiny in areas I need to reduce with W500

Yes I am going back in with color to bring out the center focus of the Lord. I just don't want it to look like a coloring book picture. If you know what I mean. I also am thinking of how I can spray a glossy finish on it so It will have the depth like a metal panel with clear coat. The black sealer on the gesso is just sucking the paint right in.

Another reason I chose to do this is because of the post about how to paint on black surfaces. I figured this would be a great demo to illustrate the technique.

[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]added a fair amount today. I can't seem to get good pictures with the way the board is reflecting light back.

Paint flow was a bit more troublesome today. Every time I try to get tight up like around the eyes the paint didn't want to spray. That is with the 4030 at 10 paint to one 4030 and then shooting in 20 drops of W500 and shooting 15psi.

Thank so much. I always feel, so generic when I try to do a piece from just my imagination. Maybe just some reflective colors on the skin to pop it to life.

I am not sure I will use this hard sendable gesso again for airbrush. It just soaks everything in. Or it may be the Createx dark sealer is tool old. Not sure. I would love to clear this like automotive work but I don't think it would work on the wood. I don't even know anyone to ask. I was thinking of doing the inter coat clear and then spraying with two part spray can clear but I would hate to destroy it. It would pop the whole thing though and give it so much depth.

You could envirotex it. Two part epoxy coating with a super high gloss finish. In Jurek's studio he has a large painting of his done with it and it came out beautiful!! :)

I've used regular water based polyurethane to seal MDF and then painted over it the same as I would aluminum. Do a test piece before for sure. I would think that paint would act as a barrier anyway and since Createx says you can use any clear over their products it should be fine, but TEST first. Even with that other stuff, I'd do a small test first. For sure I would spray it on because any type of brushing with a waterbased product I would think would cause smearing.
