Do you do a clear coat over the whole rock? What sort of rock is it? Looks like a basalt maybe...

I'm not sure if I should be clearing the whole rock but I do, my reasoning is if it goes outside to help prevent moisture getting between the layers but who knows if my line of thinking is right... I'm still in a bit of a learning curve. The rock is called Ironstone/Flagstone and was rougher in texture than previous pieces so was definitely more challenging. This piece is 18x20x1" and about 30lbs.

Nice - I guess you don't work it on an easel! That makes sense looking at the texture.

Not sure you can see but it is sitting on my poor little fold up, table top easel. Although it does not show in this pic, I'm surprised no one has ever teased me about my Donna Dewberry One Stroke, folk art easel LOL. I'm actually surprised it held my bear rock that was about 55lbs.

We rarely chide people about their easels, not much easel envy in this group that I've notice... :)

I would have it without a doubt, as just about everyone here knows I'm mental about cats but the substrate makes it even more interesting for me:)

Damn shame it's too far away:(

Thank you all, I sure hope it brings a decent price.... I'm so nervous since I've never sold anything or donated to a silent auction like this ..... I know it shouldn't but know it will influence how I feel about my skill level.

You don't need to be nervous, even if it only fetched a dollar, that's still a dollar more towards helping animals, although I have a feeling it will fetch far more than that, depending on the publicity that this and the event itself gets, someone will look at it like it as I did and just want it, but some lucky person will be closer to it than I am and do what they can to get it, I will be jealous of them but happy at the same time, I think once it sells (and it will) you'll realise just how good an artist you are, then you'll be far less nervous and far more confident:thumbsup:
