    Hi Friends,

here the short SBS of the "Mater Dolorosa" painting.

I start with a line drawing on frisket film and transfer it to my surface (Schöllershammer No.4).

After this I spray the under painting with sephia (I know, it's look like green:eek:!)
I also erase and scratch with the fibre pen and electrical eraser and blade at this step.

Now begins the coloring process with Schmincke "Brazil Braun", at next the "Krapprot" also for the lips and the shading of the skin.

With black I spray the deepest shadows and the eyebrows.
For skin textures I erase again some areas.
The Background become a texture with a stencil and "sephia".

At least I correct some skin tones and shadows and finished the picture.

For protection I spray a varnish.

Thank you all for sharing your knowledge!
I've learned a lot from you!

    Liebe Grüße, Micha.

I really like the old style of this painting! It came out great.

I think I am encouraged to attempt an English Pre-Raphaelite style painting that I was intrigued by :)

I like the style too, nice sbs. I watched a dvd on oil painting in the old flemish masters technique called "a portrait of Anna" it was pretty good and went through all the different layers to make up the painting although it did have the music from the period to go with it all the way through lol. Worth a watch though.
