Another small point regardng purchasing these babies for me would be the availability of spare parts, are there any Australian distributors?? the way I go through needles is not funny :)

To Frank. I have US shipping address, so I have no issues to buy in the US:)
And CM-SB nozzle works much better for opaques, but I buy micron Olymposes only for the transparents, I don't expect from them good work with the opaques as small nozzles need very good thinning of the paint, what makes using opaques like transparents, I have to spray in many layers to get the coverage I need. For the reason it's better to have bigger nozzle, than bigger headache:)

To Paul. Parts aren't the issue. Micron type nozzles and needles are interchangeable between iwata and Olympos. But you need only parts either from one brand (nozzle+needle) as needle from iwata doen't go inside the Olympos as it has smaller diameter.
And you wouldn't believe, I made good needle for micron from chinese knock-off 0.2mm needle;) It has the same diameter but I make the taper I need and polish the needle. It gives me slightest difference in price:D And the needles from chinese AB I buy look better than iwata's and Olympos, I couldn't even believed in that. They work very well. Thought can't say how that will be in a long run, but from the start after the needle preparation they worked excellent!

I do like the prices of the spare parts a lot more than those of my CM-SB :p. I am very attached to my side cups though :(

I have 2 DeVilbiss Super 63 "A" airbrushes which have a 0.12 setup and I love them even though they are 30 years old. We don't spray loads of paint at once so the "A" is perfect as there's nothing blocking the view of the needle. I bet the SP-A is fantastic, it would be something I would look into for future.

Me either. It's a pity Olympos went out of production before they had done side feed micron.

You're right, it's good not to have the cup on the way:) I've got another A model, it's very convenient to do precise work, but it's not micron. Microns spray better. So I'd like to try SP-A, I think it will good brush for precise work where we need just drops of paint, though reservoir isn't that small there, I'd say.

Wich is the real advantage of the side cup, because, you use it, mitch use it, marissa use it and drue use it, as far as I saw all of you are the best airbrushers that I've seen and all of you use the cm-sb or hp-sb!!

I never cared for the side feed too much. I always felt it made it harder to clean and required a little higher air pressure than the top feed micron c+

The disadvantages have been mentioned above :)

The main reason I couldn't do without anymore is the ease with which you can change color (if you have multiple cups). I have one cup filed with water and the others with the colors I'm using. If I quickly want to go back to the pervious color I spray some water though and get the cup with that paint... takes 5 seconds instead of having to clean the whole thing and remix the color.

Also (but this is a bit less of an issue) when doing realy realy close up work the cup isn't in the way (can look over the brush)

I can use my evolution with 5psi, how far can go on psi with a SB? I like to use the index finger way ahead of the trigger and with the big cup is kind of @&$?$& !, so I was thinking to get an SB! And I really hate to clean between colors, but don't like syphon feed bushes!!

The CM-SB can go redicilously low (as in hardly any pressure) and still atomise perfectly (paint thinned corectly ofcourse), so in that regard the side cup is of no consequence for this airbrush (might be a problem for other sidecup brushes, but I have never handled another so can't realy comment onthat)

As for all the top artist using SB's (which i love) that is so not true - Cory StClair, Craig Fraser, Gerald Mendez to name just 3 mostly use CM C+ or the Kustom version.... Love a bit of controversy :)
After using the SB for over a year solid and now playing with C+'s I find the SB to be out of balance (only a feeling) I wish it also had that MAC valve to rest your finger on!

Sorry my bad. The majority of greatest aibrushers who paints mostly photorealistic portraits that I know of (Drisco, Mitch, Marissa, Dru, Hassje) use it, I never saw a photorealistic portrait made by Fraser (don´t get me wrong, I think he is an excelent airbrusher and person as one can see and read), but I only saw custom ilustrations and graphics from him. Acording to Mendez himself "He create what he terms as “Unreal Concepts”", But I´m with you with Cory and Soto, both use gravity feed airbrush. And I love controversy too!!:D

I had a chance to use the Olympos Micron MP-200C 0,18 today (a student had one) and have to say I'm thorouhly impressed with its performance (only used E'tac sepia).

It has a very nice spray pattern even at very low pressure and thin lines are produced without much efford (and this gun didn't have a soft spring). The realy thin lines where a bit less fluid than I get from my CM-SB but the olympos needle was a tad damaged so for now I presume that was the cause of it.

It's performance is realy close to that of my Iwata micron. I only used it for a couple of hours so I can't realy in all honesty compare it to my CM-SB which I used for years and have become very accustomed to. From my few hours experience with it so far I'll be hard pressed to defend the price difference between the olympos and iwata though (unless the slight needle damage wasn't the cause of the thin lines being a bit less fluid).

If for one reason or another I'd have to replace my Iwata and the olympos 200c would be avaliable with a side cup I think I would be faced with a tough choice. It's certaily a gun I'd recommend given the price difference with the comparable Iwata's (cm-b cm-c)

ps keep in mind that after a few hours I can't say anything about durability of nozzles and needles and how prone it will be to wear and tear

The super long taper on the olympos needle may make it more prone to damage. I cant say because until someone dropped my brush for me, i had not damaged the needle yet.

Your micron is a .18 the olympos is a .23 might be the difference.
    Amazing brush either way.
Now if i can just get my new needle in......

It was an 0.18 version of the olympos, there is a 0.23 version also and (not completely sure as I haven't researched it) as far as I'm aware the 0.18 and 0.23 needle nozzle sets are interchangable. (http://lion-art.nl/contents/nl/d367_Micron_MP-Series.html#p4285)

I was looking at these yesterday, knowing that eventually I will want (need) a detail brush. Got hung up on the needle though.
From what I have read, and with a standpoint of prudence, it seems like one would want to buy a extra needle or 2 now, given the uncertainty if the current production is just a flash in the pan.
