Hi, very happy to have found the forum, thanks for letting me join
I've taken a one day 'intro to the airbrush' classroom course, which was excellent, but now trying to teach myself.
I've experimented with different boards and papers, different pressures/dilutions etc.
I'm using createx paints and an Iwata Eclipse HP CS airbrush with a big old noisy garage compressor!
I've watched loads of YouTube vids but I still find I'm being very heavy-handed with black paint so I'm trying to improve!
I've attached some early efforts.... (you'll note that I'm keen on cars!). I'm quite pleased but don't look too closely....

Welcome. I think the eye is great too, I am not sure if the white of the eye is a different shade to the skin but it has atleast the illusion of it and it really makes it stand out.

Thanks, the highlights in the eye are a different colour white, but the rest is all just black, lighter or darker

Going too dark too soon is a common part of the newbie journey so don't beat yourself up over that. i found that adding transparent base to my mix helped a lot. think of it as colourless paint when you mix so you don’t end up with a thicker paint than you planned on.
i think you’re well on your way to becoming very confident and competent with your new hobby. Well done.
