    Good Morning!
I am new to airbrushing. I have a Paasche H and a Paasche D500 Compressor that I've never used. In the past I've hand detailed RC cars and RC airplanes. I would love to revisit painting, but this time with airbrushing. I'm looking forward to tutorials and any advice you'd like to share. I'm willing to struggle through learning so I can be the best I can be. The sky is the limit as to what I'd like to airbrush! I'm looking into purchasing an iwata Eclipse-cs. Any recommendations and suggestions are much appreciated.

    Welcome home
Well being you show Chicago /Wisconsin I suggest you print the 40% off coupon from Hobby Lobby and pop on over and pick up that Iwata Eclipse CS:D
There is a world of difference between a dual action airbrush and the single action one you currently have. I have used a Paasche H for a few things and still have it and an old VL laying around somewhere . LOL

    Welcome from the uk :)

Grab that eclipse, you wont be sorry. Have a serious think about paint too. There's lots of info on the forum if you want to try a search, or you can just ask if you see something you are interested in, and we can tell you if its suitable or not.

Then register to the airbrush tutors page and check out his free vids and exercises. Print out the sheets, and post them here so folks can advise you as you go along, which can save you a heap of time.

You need a 1/8 hose, whether its braided or not is down to preference, you could just use a thin one. I like braided, but some people like the others as they are lighter.

    Welcome to your new addiction...

If you have a harborfreight near you grab their 10ft hose, it's around $5.

Go grab that iwata, when I was looking for my first brush I almost bought a single action as I have 3rd degree burns on my hands and didn't think I would be able to use a double action but luckily I went with a grex XGI and absolutely love it.
I used a friends single stage to basecoat a large project in pearl urethane and did not want to run that threw my gun and there is absolutely no comparison between a single and double action especially when it comes to detail work

Wow! The Iwata CS Eclipse is sleek! Thank you so much for the recommendations! I'm now the proud owner. I noticed the braided hose for the Iwata had different connectors than the hose I have for the Paasche, so I also bought an Iwata braided hose. The airbrush came with three bottles of Com-Art paints. I will spend time tonite reading the tutorials here and get set-up tomorrow. Any input is much appreciated.

Yes the hoses for the Iwata are larger but you will find that the Eclipse CS is the main go to airbrush for almost everyone. It can do detail as well as larger areas ,
Now https://www.youtube.com/user/airbrushtutor/videos go watch the owner and founder of this great forum on his youtube channel . Seeing is easier to learn from then reading , At least that is what I have found when airbrushing. Congrats on your new airbrush
Oh and you will find that Com-Art does not need reduction in that Eclipse CS :D Makes it even more easier to learn when you do not have to reduce paint LOL

Congratulations on your new kit, that's the easy part out of the way :). You have a nice airbrush which will help you learn. There's usually someone about if you need any help and if not it wont be long till you get an answer to any questions you have.

    Good Morning All!
Thank you for the warm welcomes. I'm loving the recommended videos. I realize now my little Paasche D500 compressor is not going to do the job. Ordered a California compressor so I can get started. It'll be here next week. In the meantime, I've printed out the exercises and set - up my spray booth. Thanks for having me here. Like a kid at Christmas, I'll be stalking the UPS driver for my compressor.

In your opening post you mention painting cars and planes. I suggest looking up doctor cranky on youtube. He does lots of cool airbrush techniques on model cars and such. A great learning resource for modeling. In fact it was Dr Cranky that got me into this airbrushing thing
