Hello everyone, I stumbled upon this website while trying to troubleshoot my new airbrush and it seemed like a great place to learn from. My current setup is as follows: Badger Renegade brush - thought I lost my tip on this thing which, as I stated above, brought me here Paasche D3000R Compressor - usually dialed in around 13 PSI For the most part I build (and attempt to paint) Gundams. My one full painted build failed miserably upon trying to weather it after painting was complete. I have a few planes to build/paint, and for the moment one tank. I try and stick with Vallejo paints since I have struggled with getting the paint to thinner ratios correct with Tamiya. There is also an artisan paint line made here in Utah called Mission Models that I have used a couple times and quite enjoy. Looking forward to learning some stuff and getting to know some people. Thanks!!
Welcome from Australia, we have a few modellers here that can guide you with technique, and the rest of us can help with equipment questions.
I did a bit of airbrush work in high school. Started modeling about a year ago, decided to paint about 6 months ago. Struggled a lot at first, struggle a little less now. Just last week I upgraded my brush and compressor from an inexpensive Master Airbrush starter set to what I listed above. It has made a huge difference in just about everything. If anything I probably got the wrong brush since the Renegade is more of a detail brush. My local hobby shop here in Salt Lake City is ordering a Xtreme Patriot 105 for me, for my purposes that will be a much better all around brush I think (hope).
Welcome to the forum,You might be suprised at what that Krome can do even with the smaller needle nozzle combo!
No doubt I have a ton to learn about this thing. Tonight was my second time shooting paint through it and it went better than the first, so I'm going to call that a win. Haha.
The Badger brushes are definitely better than your first brush and will make a big difference. Its all about reduction and psi. Once you get the right combination the brush will sing. LOL
Welcome! I love my renegades, they work well. I used to do models, not much anymore, but time is short now. I haven't been doing anything at all...you came to right place
