    Hiya folks!
Some of you follow me elsewhere, but I realized I never post in here anymore. I still lurk and read. Started this yesterday.. all createx illusttation on homemade gessoboard. I have a long way to go on it. The amount of textures in an octopus is astounding! IMG_20180109_190936.jpg IMG_20180109_230728.jpg IMG_20180110_160717.jpg IMG_20180110_160708.jpg

Compared to Sharks, birds, people.. I think this is the most involved I've done. With all the sucker pieces. Hah.
I think I have 6 paint tones mixed just for tentacles, and we haven't gotten to the pink yet. The browns to greens to reds. Hopefully I can work on it today.

And as you can tell, when I get bored on a tentacle and have the right color, I go messing with other stuff a bit.

I find that a great way of not going stale in the mind! Do you find it medative? I personally get into some good states of mind when painting :)

At times, and I can say if I go into right brain meditative mode, I can do no wrong. The brush behaves, everything is natural, I pull all my lines. Then when I go back to thinking... Everything goes to crap!

Been working a little more on this today.
I worked on the last tentacle, Then I free-handed a bunch of circle and elipse shapes.
Then I came in with an eraser highlighting said shapes. I also scribbled in some more textures, the upper right will get very dark shadows so we are not worried about that anymore.

Then I put in hints of yellow where needed on tentacles. Mixes a peachish color and came over my textures, this knocks them back to take out the harshness. Then reduced illustration red and started blending things in.

It is important to note there is no black, the shadows are mainly darkened moss green.

This is why I said working the darks in first would be easier. It will leave me with very little cleanup to do when I get to the end of the image. IMG_20180112_131223.jpg IMG_20180112_131230.jpg IMG_20180112_142408.jpg IMG_20180112_144921.jpg
