    Hi all,
    SHORTLY my questions
    • What is a good substitute for Schoellershammer, or where do you get it it in USA?
    • Also, aside from it and Yupo, what other paper brand (that has good absorbing/erasing features) would you recommend and from where (USA sources)?
    • What can you recommend as good reference books on anatomy for artists?

MORE DETAILED - what am I looking for and why.

I am still considering myself as beginner, and I am trying to find the best paper for my work.
I had started with sketch pads, for practicing, and had found them useful, but when one gets to use other techniques, like erasing with electric rubber eraser, or with x-acto blades, fiberglass pen, etc, things are getting tougher. Since I am exploring those ways of correcting the image, sketch paper is not a choice anymore.
I have tried Stables Poster board, and I like it's erasing capabilities, as well as Yupo's paper. Yupo is bit extreme, and goes down to the surface, but sometimes that's what you need.
When I was in college, couple of decades ago, I had used the Schoellershammer, that I see is very well accepted by the AB artist in EU, but I am not sure if it's available in USA.

What is a good substitute for Schoellershammer, or where do you get it it in USA?

Also, aside from it and Yupo, what other paper brand (that has good absorbing/erasing features) would you recommend and from where (USA sources)?

NEXT, would be a good reference books on anatomy for artists?
I know there is a ton of online sources, but I wanted to see if there is any books with good photographs/drawings that covers human anatomy, from artist view point. Also, the quality of the images online is often not that great, so printed book might be more helpful.

    Thank you.
    Pajo

I'm not selling mine, ever. You can always try Crescent 215. Not as good as 4G but not bad. Blair paper is synthetic like Yupo but with a bit more texture.

I know. It will be stupid to buy from an African country when you can get it from Europe.

Wow, nice, I will have to check out my local Michael's (Northern NJ), since their website has no mention of any type of hammer paper.

Are they selling it under the original name, or re-branded?

I am asking since if it's re-branded, asking the sales people there will make me looking like Martian, :)

I went to Michael's in NYC, midtown manhattan, and they don't have German hammer paper in any form or brand, :-(
And I made a rookie error with Crescent 215. I have ordered it from Blick art, and when I looked at the description, I am seeing 20"x30" size and it says 18 ply, which I thought is a quantity and not thickness, $5.6 each and I ordered two. Imagine my surprise when I got two sheets of paper instead of 36 sheets that I was expecting, lol. Stupid mistake.
I saw they have package of 40 sheets, 11"x14", so 18 ply for me meant 18 pieces of paper, not 18 pieces of paper compressed into one.
Now I need to see if the local Blick will accept return on them.

it is quite thick, and will be good for some nice piece of airbrushing. I am still not there.
It is not glazed or smooth as the poster board I was using so far, and I am concerned how screthible and erasable it is.
@markjthomson, what is your experience with this board, and erasing techniques? I am concerned that if it absorbs the color, how easy it will be to erase down to the white.

It erases OK, similar to the S hammer I understand. My strawberry, dolphin and olives are done on it. I like it. Yes, not as easy as poster board but it doesn't damage as easy either. I purchased a sheet that size recently and have about 7 a5 boards and 6 5x7 boards so it's not a bad way to buy it!

I'll give it a try. I was thinking of cutting it to 4 10"x15" or 8 10"x7.5". I know they are not standard, but I want to use the whole paper, cheap as I am, :).
But, I may consider the sizes you mentioned, too.
