Thanks. This is really testing me. After being away from oils for so long it is like re learning how to paint. I am hoping that by doing all different mediums I will open a deeper understanding of using my tolls to their uttermost. The only medium I haven't painted with is Heavy bodied Acrylic on canvas and scratch board.

Well lets see. I have also done pottery on the wheel, Watercolor, charcoal, pen and ink, block printing, taxidermy. I always wanted to try carving but I stab my self enough with the needle and I don't need to cut off and fingers. Ouch! I am horrible at carpentry and mechanical things so I guess I will never be the true Renaissance Man.

Got a lot done today. Corrected the flesh tone and add my wife's neck and necklace in so she is no longer a floating head. Used a color selecting app to isolate a few base colors mixed them up so much easier to isolate a color and mix.[IMG]

Got my first set when I was 14 years old. My mom got me a small set of 12 colors, some turpentine and a couple cheap brushes and two canvas boards. Oh my word I just tested up. See what happens when you get old; you turn into a giant wussy. Lol! My first real painting was a large mouth bass. Wish I had it today. Back then I thinned the paint down so much it was like working with water colors. That was the best Christmas of my child hood. Now I use the oil paint much different. The nice thing with oils is you can blend out colors and shift colors so easily and since they are opaque you don't have color shift. After high school I stopped using oils because I was hard into airbrush art. When Ft. Walton Beach airbrush adventure didn't work out I came back to NY and didn't have the ambition to airbrush for some time so I picked up some Bill Alexander wet on wet oil paint supplies and did landscapes for a couple years. Then in 87 or 88 I made a deal with a friend to do three airbrush photo back drops for his photography business in exchange for a compressor he had laying around and airbrushing was back in my life. I recently started to expand my repertoire by doing a whole bunch of different mediums. Mostly for fun and to give as gifts to people around me. In my way it is how I serve the Lord with the talent I was blessed with. I have been so blessed over the years.

Nicely done Fred. I wouldn't know where to start with oils. My hats off to you for being able to do it.
