I'm not a big fan of the reference. It would be super helpful if I could see how someone was doing this cuz I have no idea where to start!

I think because you and others are looking at it as it is . . . a pencil drawing. Open your creative brain and think 'Airbrushed'
Think of the pencil lines as quidelines, like a kids colouring in Picture :)

Was able to put in 40 min tonight. I’m happy with being able to not be afraid to pull the trigger anymore..wooohooo. I think I may redo my tracing as I’m finding I have lines drawn in that don’t even exist, not sure how that happened? I also want to make it bigger so need to enlarge my ref pic. Dunno yet. Anyway, here is a little progress. Started to darken the outline a tiny bit more

Something else I tried tonight is spraying at a lower psi...wow, did that ever help with my reduced Payne’s grey

Well for me, that's the problem. I know I want to change it, but have no clue where to even start thinking.

No, I'm under visualizing it. Theres just nothing there in the way of inspiration. Thats been my biggest challenge in art.

My mind was a blank when I started, (some would argue it still is) but I've noticed I look at things and immediately wonder how i would airbrush it. It kind of helps to reinforce the techniques without actually commiting paint to paper.

Inspiration comes when i least expect it. I can sit and wonder for ages what to paint for a Paint Pal (before we get the names) and some random idea will jump into my head when i least expect it and i'm nowhere near the airbrush or even thinking about painting

37D232F8-4927-447B-BD48-3821B77BD3F6.jpeg A little more progress tonight..below th mouth I had to erase a ton because I made a big booboo..I have to figure how to get it to blend back to normal. I guess as I start to go darker it may fix itself. Had a riot tonight!

progress is a good thing, and remember, even when you do a booboo, its still teaching you 2 things.
    1. what not to do in future
    2. how to fix it

That’s for sure..I learned tonight that a long line doesn’t have to be completed in one pass. Better to break it down to a few smaller lines...lol

Looks like your going slow and steady on this one. As you add layers and build the darkest areas you will find that some mistake will disappear .

Terraslate will be better if you plan on erasing. Plus if you make a total mess of it you can just wash it off and start again :)

I will say that terraslate is pretty easy to erase, however I’ve had no luck cleaning off paint that’s been on for a week or so...lol. Maybe just stick it in the tub and let it soak?

Part of me wants to start over and re map mine, I’m finding lot of the lines I mapped are more shadows and highlights and not what needs to be mapped..then again it’s fun erasing the bad lines and just winging it

You have a very good start on it. Keep at it and it will look very good. Add a few more layers and it will come around.

totally agree....... I think everyone has that moment in a piece where they are convinced its only worthy of the bin.
Its starting to come together nicely @Joe T, If you cant erase on your substrate then make the mids and darks a little darker. You'll be suprised how it all starts to pull together.
