I get to this point with every single piece that I try! Literally all of them. I had this moment yesterday afternoon, I put in some shading and decided I’d ruined it; but I’ve learned to keep going and I was glad that I did.
Keep this one going Buddy, it’s good to have a relaxed approach to it, but don’t give up on it just yet. It’s looks great to me.

Yep completely normal!! That drive to want better will get you better! Just keep applying yourself, I find it better to build the structures and scales first, easier to manipulate too if you need to, which I do :)
    Just keep swimming!

Yea Joe, it will make it darker but you have the control on how much darker since you are making weak passes of it. It took me a long time to understand that. I always wanted to just make one pass and make it dark to start with. I still make my passes darker than I should but keep messing with it. It's only a painting. I try now to make my weak passes on a piece of paper and see how many/much it takes to get what I want and then do the same on the painting.
What I refer to as weak passes is when I add the base to the color, it weakens it's strength and makes it lighter but not thinner.
    Hope this makes sense.

    Sure does and thank you

I’ve struggled with making things too dark so my biggest accomplishment here is NOT doing that. Everyday is a learning day I swear

thanks Richard you explained real good and for those who use water to thin the paint lower your psi and your layers will get weaker and that will also give you more control

Well hes the start of my attempt at this. Its been awhile since i used a brush so i was a little shakey. I have some spots where i went to dark but im pretty sure i can make it blend out un the end.

Doesn’t look like you went far too dark Rick. I think it looks like a good start to me.

Looking good Rick. If 20 people in the same room painted this dragon, no one would match anyone else's. Have fun. That's what it is about for most of us.

Well heck, might as well put my second attempt up. I’m already looking for something else to do...lol. I swear sometimes I start something and like a little kid get distracted by something shiny..I do feel my lines are coming along the more I goof off with this thing.
Blending lines...need to work on blending lines!
