Started a new project yesterday. Got the basics done, now just for some details. Using my Krome airbrush and a combination of Wicked and US Art supply paints. Have included my reference pic also. IMG_20170514_102304.jpg IMG_20170511_162754041_HDR-1280x720.jpg

Very nice - I don't think I've done enough flowers. What is the substrate?

Thanks. Still have to do some shading to separate the petals and finish the details.

I think the flower needs more shadow and lights to get some depth, looks a bit flat at the moment if you don't mind me saying!

Try placing your reference drawing on top of your painting, carefully align the two pictures Now tape the left side of the two pictures to your easel. Flip your top picture up and down like you are trying to peak at your drawing. Your short comings on your painting will become very evident. When you use this flipping technique and you can't tell the difference between your reference and your painting you get to be called master.lol

Thanks big John, I'll give this a try. Now I have no idea on how to shade it properly without destroying it.

Color is nice and bright but as mark said work on shading in the flower look at the ref. picture and find where the flower petals bend it creates a shadow on the side the suns not hitting ,same with the folds of the petals, ther are also highlights you can do to help you give them form so they don't look flat,
looking at the leaf's your getting alot of over spray on the other leafs leaving a line on top of the leaf above it, mask or shield's will stop that ,as will lowering your air pressure some. hope this helps
