polishing a needle will work but any time you polish it you take off more metal , I know the K33 needle is not cheap but I wear down a stock needle in 12 to 18 months and replace it for a new one , the K33 has been proven to last at least 2 years when used for 8 hours a day 7 days a week . I paint about 3 to 4 hours a day so the needle should last me over 4 years if not longer and that in fact makes it cheaper in the long run ;)

I'm sure we're all convinced how much better they are, and I'm sure most went a little over the Christmas budget, so unless there is a "starvin' first quarter sale" we're going to wait till birthdays grant some more wishes. If there is a sale, I just might lose some weight after all. It could happen, oil has plummeted, how far behind can airbrush needles be?

yeah don't think I could ware through a needle in 12 to 18 months even if I polished it everyday am I removing material yes but not removing enough eat through the 2.54cm of extra metal

The needle in mine just turned 3. I've even used it to try and get a stuck piece of toothpick out of the nozzle. I only polished it about 18 months ago and it is still fine. They are tough little buggers. I can just imagine how tough a K33 one must be.

Seems some people polish their needle more often than others Andre.

A little online research this week turned up an interesting article by Mr. Zolt on polishing needles. I'm wondering if this is where Strictly Attitude learned how to do it. Zolt goes past .25 micron diamond paste to colloidal diamond on velvet.

The K33 needles are sold out at this time, again.

His research and experiments are no secret. And him making it available to to public show he/they are not doing it for the money. You can do all the coatings and polishing yourself. They basically just offer to do it for you for a fee.

Even the info for his softer spring is on his page. I've had a look into it and for me to come close to what they are charging, I have to order 20+. I will never use that many and I don't think anybody here where I live gives a cr@p about softer springs so I can't sell the rest. So I just bought me 5 and that will last me my lifetime.

Thanks I needed a good laugh. Making available to the public is the very definition of doing it for the money. I have no quarrel with someone making a profit from selling me a great product, I even expect and encourage it.
I wouldn't be surprised if Iwata took over marketing, since everyone disavows doing it for the money. Iwata is in it for the money, the more the merrier.
I've got an email off to Foxy asking them about availability being only to Marissa K33 owners, let's see if they reply.

According to Carly Tedesco at Foxy, "The new k33 needles production will be available probably after the summer, maybe before and will be announced once available."
    Available to all. Rumor squashed.

barquester... buddy, i can tell you that they are not in it for the money, i know what it cost them to get the prototype up together, the process and how many people from the department of engineering in brescia it took to actually manufacture them, not to mention various other treatments in different parts of europe. once these 2nd batch are sold they might just break even. they did it to see if they can, i can also assure you that iwata had nothing to with the manufacture or marketing of the k33 needle. if you want one, and are able buy one. itll be a good investment

no problem mate, check out his article/resource colour to drop, it tells you exactly how many drops of a specific paint brand (i think etac efx was used) you need to hit any colour in the spectrum

There's no doubt that the needles are worth every penny they are charging for them, polishing my needles cost a lot in time and money. I have a thousand dollars in diamond hones alone. I also don't have the photomicrography resources to check results like he uses. I have to borrow a microscope.
I read the Color2Drop article Zsolt did, wow, he's quite the scientist.
