I managed to find an image when I started this tiger and it says 9 April 2013. I thought it was started in 2012. None the less it is now done thanks to the tutorials from the people of this forum.

It's on 24" x 18" recycled canvas. The background was done in Com-art using the colour buffer technique. The tiger was done in Marissa E'tac. Airbrush was my Eclipse.

Nice job Andre im bet your glad you kept it and finished it, theres a bit more satisfaction finishing something that has almost beat you.
Ive seen you mention the colour buffering tech a couple of times, could you give a quick explanation as to what it is or how it works?

I'm just about to start my first AB on canvas and it should be a tiger, similar to yours! But after reading how you struggled with it, I'm not sure if that is the best idea to start on canvas with such a demanding photo...

I would be more than happy to achieve something which gets somehow close to it! Well done!!

May I ask if you had any difficulties with scratching the hairs?

@pcDoc, no hassles working on the canvas and the subject was not difficult once I figured out what to do. In the fur there is no fine painting. It's just coloured patches which you then scratch the hair in. First layer is opaque, subsequent layers transparent. The orange was just a transparent mixture of brown- and yellow ochre.

Thanks! I might come back with some questions on the go!

I'm not so much afraid of the fine detail (the PP I'm just working on is full of really fine details, to test the CM), but I roughly know what works on paper and what not. With canvas I for example don't know how scratching will work with having the texture of the canvas. I'm very much used to erasing, but I thought about doing it similar like Mitch did with the leopard, just using the AB. Will also be a good exercise for me, to get a step closer to brush on difficult surfaces like metal and/or plastic.

But I really didn't meant to capture your thread here and will open a new one with my questions!

Again, well done!! And it really paid off to finish it!!

That is amazing work , It would take me that long just to get the level of detail you have in the fur.

Not sure what I can add to all the well deserved superlatives already stated, but excellent and with an Eclipse to boot!

Thank you all. Like I said, would not have been possible without the guidance of the fine members on here.

To all that think there is a lot of detail in it, there is not. Because of the size and then reducing it to fit on a monitor, all the detail just seem to jump out. It's another thing that can be added to the "notice to newbies" thread. Always look at the size of the original artwork. The only "detail" were the eyes and the nose. The rest was just patches of paint that were scratched into and then covered up again for the next layer of scratching.
