OK here is a guy who made his own home made auto candy incase anyone is daring.

Well that is not a candy but a super transparent paint. I would have to see him actually do say tru fire when you have to oaver lap the candies to say it was even close to a true candy paint.
Plus he is a layer stencil guy looking at he stencils he has laying there so I kind of feel sorry for his customers .

Lol ya his comment on 5k paint jobs and seeing his first layer made me laugh. But thought the idea he had was cool except after I watched a detailed video a hour later about candy then I realized his was just tinted paint.

I think he summed it up when he said "I'm spraying in a dusty shop..." and "I'm not a professional..." He sounds far too much like a rip off merchant to be taken seriously. for a $5k job I expect to see at least a proper booth...

When it come s to candies ,they are certainly not easy to replicate and that's why the big paint makers have struggled for years to ,try and stop them fading, make a true water based version etc etc . Yes anyone can produce a semi opaque or some for of translucent but so far I have not seen any true candies made in the shed from printer cartridge inks etc that actually work .

The guy's an ass. Saying airbrushing is easy and it's an easy way to make $5000.

with that mask I think hes got a few dead brain cells from inhaling the acetone too, wrong type for what he's spraying

I hate this guy, I was hoping to be number one in being stupid and this bastard stole my spot, I can't understandwhy people who make videos with their smart phones don't have enough grey matter to turn the buggers landscape, I had to lye down to watch this and I normally only do that for porn, sorry I meant nature films;)

And trust me, he's wearing the right mask, he wants to make his next video from within the ER room:thumbsup:

I only clicked on this thread because I thought it was a recipe for making my own gummy bears, what a let down:(

I normaly refrain from commenting when I have nothing nice to say, but #$^%$ is that guy an $%$%^ :p.

He probably means well but he clearly has no idea what he is doing or talking about. I hope no one is paying 5k for that crap (else I realy realy realy have to reconsider my pricing :D) and if he actualy is getting that he should be ashamed of cutting corners by saving 3 bucks making transparant (tattoo!!???) paint instead of using a real candy , not to mention a rattlecan base on a %*&&^* harley.

Sorry just had to rant after seeing this :p

I'm so glad I wasn't on a visit when you were subjected to this, I have a feeling I may have left wearing one of your tins:eek:

I was gonna say @Madbrush you will always be the number one stupid in my book but after watching this clown some one should warn @Squishy not to watch this, that you are a genius compared to him

Well mate I'm glad to see you back with us and I can tell you I missed you, I've always considered you a friend but that comes into question when you start to insult me by calling me names like "genius" however, since a I would hate to lose such a good friend I shall assume that this was merely a slip of the tongue on your part:)

I did a little rummaging on this guys YouTube channel and found his other video on scratching techniques, I decided to just take a screen shot from it since I found the whole video too graphic and not suitable for all audiences, notice the absence of protective eyewear and he kind of reminds me of someoneo_O

Probably made the chain from some old motorbike parts and got the teeth form an old circular saw to save costs...

Probably, I sent him a message on his channel critiquing his design, he refused to comment other than to say that this was intended as his stencil cutter but coast airbrush sent him the wrong mylar, I don't want to see the stuff they were supposed to send:eek:

OK see in his idiocy I have learned a lot from you guys. And it's good to rant now and then so I have helped everyone. Those who needed to vent and those who think they suck at painting. Now they see there is a guy way worse out there. Lol

Was curious about whether tattoo inks are pigment or dye based, so looked them up. It was... kind of disturbing, actually. Heavy metal pigments and other stuff that in any other context you'd be well advised not to touch, taste or inhale, but apparently injecting it into your skin is A-OK?

Regardless: yeah, they're solid pigments, so he's really just making super-reduced regular paint. Might as well skip the special ingredient pretense entirely and just use, y'know, paint. Or straight pigment powder. At that mixing ratio the original binder is going to be positively homeopathic anyway (the clear is the real binder in that mix), so it kinda doesn't matter what you use.

Also I cringed hard, repeatedly. Not knowing what orientation to hold the phone (this always baffles me as it's such a no-brainer). Spraying acetone with just a dust mask (he even comments on it, and coughs while spraying, but does it anyway). Spraying acetone with just a dust mask AND in an area without good ventilation (check out how long that fogging hangs around). Dust floaters making visible pimples in the clear coat. Ghetto-looking stencil work (of course it's easy if you only use stencils for everything... but it'll never not look like just stencils).

I'm sure he considers himself a winner if he's actually getting paid, but he's definitely exploiting his clients in a bad way if that's the kind of work he's charging full price for.

Didn't find the vid Madbrush spoke of, but, amusingly, he's got a video about fixing bad clear coats.

Tattoo ink fades in skin under sunlight so I bet his paint will fade to.
Here's something I learned a while back: Tattoo's don't really fade over time because of sunlight alone. They fade because white blood cells carry off a lot of the smaller heavy metal pigments and deposit them in your colon (you literally poop out tiny bits of your tatto over time). The color that remains is because some of the heavy metal pigments are too large for the white blood cells to carry off. In fact, tattoo removal is the process of using a laser to heat one side of the heavy metal pigment, causing it to fracture, so the larger pieces of heavy metal pigments break into several smaller fragments, which are small enough for white blood cells to carry away and deposit in your colon.

I found the whole thing very fascinating so thought it would be fun to share that little bit of knowledge. :D

I'm late to this party, but I too thought it was going to be some kind of home made gummie bear recipe. Boy was I dissappointed! Who knew making candy paint was so easy Lol. We could be rich I tell you......rich LOL. Why he didn't just use regular trans airbrush paint thinned down god only knows, as he's not doing it over silver it would look the same anyway, only better as the pigment would build properly, and the colour would last. Facepalm !!!!!!
