Long story short. My mylar stencils are sprayed with a glue. After I don't need them I need to clean them. White spirit works like a charm. I use white spirit and a little brush and stencil is like new. Here is the question. I was googling around to see what is good practise when I use white spirit concerning health hazards but to be honest I am not sure. Hand glowes yes or no? Respirator? Do I need some kinda special air filters? Anybody have some tips about white spirit?

Here is a picture of a t-shirt which I made for myself so I can wear it when I go to watch the movie. It's not art, it's just fast work in software. And then I just applied it to the t-shirt with wicked colors and my eclipse. Good enough for one movie night.

And one close up. I noticed my crapy phone makes better photos if I go really close... I need to pull out camera out of a closet one day and fill those batteries... WP_20180524_003.jpg

Yea ,yea I know. It's not art. But I got one of a kind t-shirt on a world for a movie night lol

    Pretty sweet t shirt!
If you arent spraying the spirit then yeah just gloves. Even those I dont find to be a big deal but i have seen people develop a sensitivity after years of touching it.

White spirit will do you no harm as long as you dont spray it or drink it, if you are getting it on your hands when you use it, clean your hands with washing up liquid then your usual soap, if it stays too long on your hands it can cause dermatitis and skin irritation, if you mix the white spirit with washing up liquid and a little water it will do the same job as it has done but will be easier to clean off your hands or anything else, with this mix your usual soap is enough for cleaning.

Washing up liquid, the stuff you clean plates and cutlery with is a detergent, when you mix it with white spirit it becomes an "emulsion" which means it can be mixed with water or oil so if you make this mix, mix the white spirit and washing up liquid first then add water, this mix is also great for removing greasy hand prints off of door handles and the areas around them, white spirit on its own will remove sticker residue and anything greasy.

I used it every single day for forty odd years as painter and decorator, while I never had any problem with it some folks are more sensitive to it and a few collegues had serious problems with it.

I got this friday 100 pieces of a3 mylar sheets which I ordered, so I suspect I will have a lot of play time with stencils. But on other hand also lot's of playing with white spirit, that's why I was worried a little.

If you're using water based paints your stencils would clean just as easy with any normal spray cleaner or soapy water.

yea glue is a problem. I use glue which is for screen printing. It sticks to the stencil, but not to the fabric after I remove it from t-shirt. And I can't store stencils if they are all sticky. I tried to stick them to the a3 paper for storage purpose and it works, but it's not like if you clean them nicely.
