it looks like my old desktop is about to die on me and I will have to get a new one , I have an old version of photoshop on the old desktop but I dont have the original disks so I cant transfer it to a new desktop .

the main thing I use photo shop for is to manipulate te size of a photo and cut it in parts I can print on a A4 printer , I checked out Gimp 2.8 but I can find the tool to cut out parts of a photo
I know there is a poster program that will cut up a photo to A4 parts but I didnt like that program .
My question: can it be done in Gimp and how ?

Gimp has improved markedly and for the cost of Photoshop I've got to wonder why anyone would use it over something like GIMP! Yes you can indeed and there are truck loads of tutorials around for it as well.

one more question for you guys : is there a way to change from pixels to cm ? I know I can change the size of a photo in cm but when I want to cut to a4 size I only see the size in pixels and not in cm and that messes with my brain LOL
