Thanks Dave. In my defence I did spray y300 on the test sheet but I wrote y3 in the post for some reason and its too late to edit now.Y-3 is a "C" cup gravity feed . That one there is the Y-300. I really wish there were still some rushes available regulator feature, as I too enjoy using them.
I saw it - no defense needed, as I am the absolute worst at missing stuff before the edit window expires. I just added the post in case someone searched later on for info on either model... Splendid example you got there. Thanks Dave. In my defence I did spray y300 on the test sheet but I wrote y3 in the post for some reason and its too late to edit now.
Thanks, I was very fortunate with this purchase for sure. Brings a smile to my faceI saw it - no defense needed, as I am the absolute worst at missing stuff before the edit window expires. Look at that, I got it right, what’s Dave even talking aboutNot when you know a friendly neighbourhood mod its not
Thanks Dave, that would be great if you have the pamphlet. And thanks for the info on date.Yes, the black handled one is older. I have a pamphlet around somewhere with illustrations of it (I will look for it). I have a few, Y-1, and Y2 examples also with black handle, but your Neo Hohmi is older still (probably late 60's early 70's), as the shape of the handle changed in newer versions. Not as round in the back in the newer ones. Interesting, the color cup for that brush is the same cup as found on early century Wold's
Congratulations on your new acquisitions! They look very appetising especially Y-2A couple more Holbeins.

And this older? one with a black handle, which came with the Lumina brush. No cup and I don't have one that fits unfortunately. Quite a short brush compared to the others. The chrome on this older brush is nicer than the finish on the later models.

Such a wonderful, unique piece! Congrats on the acquisition! So I got carried away and bought a job lot of Hohmi brushes and some used parts, a few spare caps and handles. So if you’ve got a Holbein with a scratched up handle or an out of shape cap, send me PM and i’ll sort you out.
The main reason I bought the lot was a few older black handled Hohmis. These brushes, like the later Holbein branded brushes, were made by a particular company in Japan. I’ll post about that history soon when I’ve got more time.
I try to restrain myself so that I only collect one of each specific model of brush (there are exceptions) so i found myself with a few duplicates. A couple of these brushes have already found a new home with a member here. You won’t guess who it is. He was very reluctant of course, as he always is, but I bullied him do it
Here’s one I kept which is a design I have never seen before. I think it says Hohmi-jr-dash but the word in the middle is difficult to make out, maybe it says something else.

The infill on the engraving was quite worn off on these brushes so I bought some white nitrocellulose lacquer, having read that is often what engravers use, and it went on really easily and achieved close to original effect.

The mechanism is completely different from a typical Hohmi. I’ll post those later today along with a test spray pic.

Cant think who You bullied and pestered into getting those brushes off of You!! any hints?
