I bought 2 Simair brushes and one of the cheapies that I posted in another thread (the one with the mac valve came with these 2 )

Heres the first one cleaned and polished (came fitted with a .3mm nozzle)

That looks pretty decent to me.

Presumably they didn’t actually make 200,000+ of these so perhaps the real serial number is 13? Pretty cool.
Thanks Bro :)
Could be 200 013

If it was an ab-300, 300 13?
That is a good shout and more than possible, I haven't found any other pics to compare it with though, there are a few of the XL-2000 but thats it!

Yeah, there is an sp2000b on ebay that looks to be an olympos (looks in good condition but the fellow selling it wont drop low enough for me! And I have tried to get him to!) even has an olympos spare needle with simair branding on it too but does not look to have a serial number. It looks like they began etching the name and model on and dropper serial numbers when they dropped traditional engraving.

That being said, the focus did have a serial number and was sold in simair kits but never had the simair brand on, it kept harder and steenbeck branding.

Brush number 2, and the main reason I bought this lot :)

All stripped and cleaned and a bit of work on the needle, also this one had a missing trigger, so I made a new one :D After seeing some of Dave's brushes, I stole the idea and replicated the trigger, It was first cut from some 13mm bar stock and the had a hole drilled and tapped so I could fit a bolt and then shape it on a belt sander

The first pic here shows the brass tube I used first of all just to make sure it would work, I then modified an old trigger by removing the brass plunger and soldering in a pin across to match the Simair.

And just for fun, here is the Simair next to My 100GFX

Thanks Bro's
They do work pretty well, and should perform even better once dialled in a bit more with use :)

The cups look quite comical when put side by side like that

I might start using it an my new shot glass lol

A couple of other interesting things to point out on both brushes.

1, the brass ring inside the barrel has no slot to unscrew it, it also doesn't look like the bore has any sort of shape to it to help unscrew it!

2, the brass nut in the air valve is shaped like a gear.

Cool valve nut, never seen one like that!

Is the brass ring definitely threaded? Could it just be retained by the slotted head screw?

That is a fantastic looking valve nut. Maybe you could start a "show us your nuts' thread with that one Ian 😶

I tried moving it with the screw out but couldn't get it to move, it may of been held in with something though (paint or a locking liquid of some kind! )
