Last year I started a painting of one of my favourite cars, and since I never painted a car before it was an opportunity to raise the bar and do something out of things that I usualy paint. So I will make an step by step of the things I've done, and I really want that you point anything that might be done more quickly or simpler or even mistakes that you think I might have done, so everyone can lear with this experience. The airbrushes used were the Iwata Hpc-plus, H&Steenbeck Infinity and Iwata Micron SB, paints - Wicked line and Autoair. Illustration board Schoellershammer 4G. Started by maping all car including shading and highlights.. repeat ALL lines!! nothing left asside. (sorry no photo from the traced car.. in the next photo the lines are visible side by side with the painted part )After that I'll start by painting the darker parts and start to paint the wheels arches, tires and rims. at this point I only used shield and free hand. Previously I lay down a frisket and cutted the letters from the tires to protect them from darker colors. It will be one of the last things to remove when the paint is done. The letters from the back tire will be done scratching with a blade. Next I'll cover all painting with fisket and cut all parts that aren't blue. The idea is paint all blue from the body. I stated with AutoAir transparent blue, painted a smooth blue, and afterward I lay down darker tones of blue to add contrast and build shadows. Darker blue - Transparent blue + wicked paynes grey. To do the highlights I used a paper witch I previously cutted with the border lines of the highlights and used it as a shield. After do it, I started to take the previously cutted frisket part by part ( headlight, mirror, air inlets, bonnet fixers, seat, exhaust pipe, etc) and work on each part one by one. After doing this, some of the features may look not integrated in the painting due to the masking effect, so you have to merge it, painting the frontier, shadowing it or do other effect. This is what I have till this moment, tomorrow I expect to finish it, and I'll continue this Step by Step.. Hope you enjoy it. Any question, just ask!
