I found a silicone "dog feeding" mat (12"x18") with raised sides that works a charm while I am working on my desk. I think I paid around $8 for it.

I've also got one of the larger silicone repair mats around, but that's usually just used for electronics work.

I just have a plastic waiter's tray that is lined with rubber/silicone. Very cheap and sturdy.

many many years ago I found what they called a 'silicon baking' mat. its been so good, its about half the size of Dave's.
the raised lip is a must, its saved my needle chuck from ending up on the black hole of the floor more times than I can remember.
For anyone interested, Amazon/Temu/AliExpress all have the 'silicone pet mats' (just make sure it has the raised lip. )

Great idea about the silicone feeder, but I better buy a flat one for myself and not take it away from the dog...
