It is such an obvious way to use an airbrush. If you take away too much, you can just cover it up again. Looks good so far.

I like those star patterns, as it conveys the pain in a very visceral sense... namely, where the physical wounds are. However, the major light source is coming from behind, and the star patterns' light is not reflected in the body. You could incorporate this with more highlights on the body.

I have decided that I am going to paint over the star patterns and re scratch the hands and side in. If that goes well I think I am going to do a slight glow with a soft fade of white with the airbrush. The star look is too overpowering in the piece.

Artur you are correct, this is not my usual style. However some things do translate over. More to come.

Oh Fred, I kind of liked the artistic look of the stars. It reflects the pain that our savior endured. Don't be afraid to be creative. I think you should leave it and, like suggested, do some highlighting on the body and cross.

Thanks. I was mor going for the power of the Spirit flowing from His body. If I stick to scripture. God speaks in that still small voice and not the whirlwind or thunder. I have painted over the Hands side and feet and now I will try a glow effect with the airbrush. It also means re scratching the now blacked out areas.

Not going to scratch that. I am reworking it now and will use the airbrush for that part. I felt the harsh sparkle as you called it pulled to much attention away from the composition.

Work so far. Yesterday was spent killing myself blowing the leaves off the lawn since my lawnmower is still broke and the lawn service guy wanted $280 to do my leaves. So my back is in pain and I can hardly walk, at least I saved $280!

    Hear is today’s rework.

You’ve given me a great idea - how to make some money!
I’ll start the handy “garden service” ASAP, instead of painting wildlife :)
    $280 to do the leaves?!
    Wow ;)
I’m sorry for your back pain - but I can see why you did it yourself Fred :)

Regarding the rework of your scratch art ...
I wouldn’t rework something that was already done.
To me you’ve achieved what you wanted at first time.
Now it’s only spending more time doing the same thing over again - just to show it in different way.
The point is, you can do it for the rest of the year, just reworking it continuously.
The question is - what for.
I’d rather do new art, where I could improve the “stars” or something else.
I think once you’ve made the scratches, the marks will be visible on the smooth surface - or I’m wrong?
So painting over those scratches won’t make them vanish, the scratches strokes once made will be still visible...?
So to me, reworking the same areas over won’t make it looks as freshly as the previous version...

Forgive me if you disagree Fred :)
    That’s only my thoughts :)

If you can see good reasons to improve your art on the same surface, just do it as you do ;)
I don’t know your idea about what you want, so you might benefit something I’m not aware of :)

I liked this piece at first time though :)

I have a certain vision in my mind that conveys a point of the image. I am now just adding more texture into the main image. I am still going with a glow effect coming from behind the nails and the Lord side. Thanks for the support and insight.
