Any advice for a Zero luck man on a Silentaire compressor put on the side during shipping with oil still in it?

My saga for a compressor that can be used at night in a apparent continues.

I got a little compressor that works but its days are numbered since it has no working pressure switch.

I wanted one I could rely on. So when I saw a Badger Billionaire compressor that was in good shape for a great price so I jumped on it.

The seller was unable to drain the oil and even though they plastered all over the box to not put it on its sude. UPS must have done it anyways as there was oil on the outside of the box and spread around the packaging.

The compressor is one heavy pig and I have not done anything but wipe it down so far. I am hoping the worst that happens is there is some oil in the air lines and it is not permanently damaged in some way.

If I remember correctly, the way to drain the oil on this is to turn them upside down anyway. Pretty sure the oil fill is through the air filter intake line, too. They are pretty bullet proof compressors. Make sure it still has enough oil in it, or better yet take the opportunity to change to fresh, and I am sure you will be fine.

Like Dave said, make sure it has enough oil but it should be good as long as nothing broke. Depending on where the oil got, it may smoke a little if in a hot area but should be ok.
Another compressor shipping story. Mine was tossed loose in a box with some glass jars. Compressor: 1 Glass Jars: 0

Thanks,
Ismael

The last compressor I bought, a refurbished second hand one, arrived the same way, with oil all over it... I cleaned it, put new oil in it and it works like a charm. Just make sure you put the right amount of oil in it.

Silentaire's tech support is great. I called them (in the States, they're in Texas) and the guy sat on the phone for me for a long time. I have a feeling they aren't too busy with problems. He walked me through a run down of how to check for oil downstream, explained everything I needed to know and was very reassuring that they will do what they can to help with their products.

That is VERY reassuring that it should be ok. There was still plenty of oil going by the view bubble it just needs to be topped up. The oil is a different color but I read somewhere the yellow color is a additive to make the oil easier to see.

The seller was kind enough to print out the user manual for the compressor.

I must have bought the last that they had. I tried to get some more oil off of Badgers website. But the listing is gone. I still have a bottle and some left in a second bottle.

I was probably just going to run it without anything hooked up and take off the regulator. Hopefully it will help purge oil in the air line.

I'm a bit confused. I thought you were asking about Silentaire, which is an Italian company that makes high end compressors. They aren't affiliated with Badger. They have a factory or warehouse in Texas that handles US distribution.

it was branded for badger back in the day, so you are good.

I purchased one in the mid-1980's. I am pretty sure Badger stopped selling them by the mid-1990's.
Good to know.
I was hesitant on buying the 20A until I established that I could get it serviced in the US. Not that I'm xenophobic in purchasing, but shipping a 40 lb compressor to Italy and back would probably cost more than the compressor if something went south on me.

Well, Congrats!!! You got the right air compressor type in SILENTAIRE brand compressor for quiet use of your airbrush in-doors. I just purchase a used JUN-AIR 6-15 1/2HP 4 GAL. (silent) Oil Lubricated air compressor on Ebay and had it shipped from California to New Jersey. I had FEDEX pick up the compressor that was protectively packaged by the seller for it's trip across country FEDEX Home Delivery. Same issue though as the seller sent me pics of my item post packaging and the seller clearly taped signage that said "THIS SIDE UP" and "FRAGILE" on the box packaging in clear view for all to see. When I got home the packaged box was on it's side. Fortunate for me it hadn't been on it's side on my front porch for long.

I unboxed the compressor at it was in excellent condition as this compressor again kept in great shape by the seller is over 30yrs old, manufactured in 1992. This is now the oldest and smallest (4 gal. tank) of the JUN-AIR compressors I own. I got an excellent deal on this again fully functional JUN-AIR compressor. Also a pleasant surprise in a IWATA MICRON CM-SB airbrush that I first noticed in the sellers EBay listing pics as it was attached to a hose that was attached to the air compressor. Used it needs some replacement parts that I have since ordered and I'm waiting for all of the replacement IWATA parts to arrive that include a fluid needle, nozzle, handle and some upgrades like TAKUMI trigger and I decided to go with the larger 0.23mm head assembly verses to stock head assembly of 0.18mm.

Nice job, That was a great score
Thanx Sir Kingpin, I'm becoming a bit of a silent compressor fixer upper, restorer, maintenance, all things (IWATA) airbrush guy....I guess.:) I didn't have to do much with this compressor unit but add what I believe are necessary compressor motor head and air tank preserving accessories (seen in the pics above) as I mentioned this JUN-AIR unit was manufactured in 1992 and I believe in sat in a cool dry (but dusty) place for many years. I believe by its now state/condition that I've purchased this compressor in, that it had not been used much at all. I bought it from a family member of the original owner. I can tell you though of all of the used JUN-AIR compressors I've purchased over the last 2+yrs ,most sellers have no clue/idea what these compressors are used for? Couple that with the used compressor selling prices that I've encountered has made it hard for me to pass them up. I've been doing more purchasing of used and some new airbrush and silent compressor equipment over the last couple of years then painting:malicious:. I'm sitting here (home) punching out 1inch circles of silent compressor air intake filter material. It's the same material found in the OEM silent compressor intake filters for these type compressors. Beats paying the astronomical or un-needed prices for OEM pre-cut circles of intake filter material. Hey, What else have you guys and gals been up to here on the forum?

Hey I'm not sure who may be interested here, But theres a seller on Ebay selling "NEW" authentic empty IWATA Micron metal cases really cheap. Just got one in the mail today. They're selling both the bare aluminum case and painted red IWATA MICRON metal cases. Both cases have none of the IWATA raised adhesive decals but do have the IWATA name engraved on the cases latch. They're $16.99 for the bare aluminum and @21.99 for the painted red case. The do accept price reducing "MAKE ME AN OFFER" options too. The case arrive well packaged new as promised.
