Thanks for the replies, and derail all you want that's why I put it in the open bar forum. I don't think I'd want a full blown t-shirt retail shop - rent, especially at the beach has become crazy expensive, though there is a possibility that I could rent a corner out, also this would be a part time gig I think. I thought about doing the heat press shirts with my own designs at the same time where you can bang out a shirt in 5 minutes then do custom work, something that does concern me is having people stand over me while I work, not sure how I'd dig it.
Body painting is something that interests me and I've done before, I'm a couple hour drive from Key West, during Fantasy Fest it's big business and lots of airbrushers come from all over for it.
Maybe I'm just trying to convince my cheap ass to spend the $$$ for the event :whistling:

    I have these -

    http://store.spraymallstore.com/cati75sh.html

The one I bought 8-9 years ago is still running, the last one I bought isn't as well made and the new filters suck, but it's still running 4-5 years later, I've put hard all day spraying on both machines over the years. I prefer the grayco spray guns over the capspray guns, but avoid the grayco sprayers as they're not as well made.

I spray a aliphatic acrylic urethane for tubs/tiles/cabinets and a water based multi-spec(use the capspray guns for this) on counter tops that gets the same urethane clear over it. Absolute nasty stuff.

After over 10 years in the commercial resurfacing business I'm looking to get out of it and it's looking now to happen sooner than later, I'm a painter/bodyman by trade and like to find some kind of nitch airbrushing, I also want to be realistic in my expectations.

Cool videos:thumbsup: Gary Worthington is one of the instructors. I can just swim out and get myself a couple sand dollars:D, good idea I could sit on the beach and make those all day.

I have all kinds of shells and beach stuff in my living room, I always pick up old frames, mix some sand with primer paint it, then sprinkle sand on the front let it dry a day or two then clear, get the glue gun out and let my gf put shells or stuff she finds off the beach on it.

Well, sounds like it would be an easy addition to your AB arsenal, whatever you do land on.
heres a couple of guns for turbine systems that are geared to auto finishing. No Idea if you would need one or not to get automotive clears to lay down slick or if the gracos would work. Just in case though.

I'm interested to hear your results if you do any auto clear with one. Im seriously considering one of these systems for the versatility/portability.

I think you will be in a good hands concerning how to do t-shirts. No need to mention, that bring some of that knowledge back here and share it with us :D

    I don't like planes :p

PS: maybe one thing you can ask him if you will remember this when you will be there if you decide to go. You can ask him ,why all t-shirt artist spray so fast? -.-

I wouldnt put that much effort to try on something that was going to go in a washing machine.

I did a couple of shirts when I first started out which were pretty successful but like you say pointless to me to put so much effort into something that not only ends up in the wash but also will get thrown out eventually.

This is very true and why you won't see someone like Mike Lavallee do shirts. I even seen him on his facebook feed say that nobody will give you the money for a t-shirt that you can get with the same image on canvas or metal. I've see guys post up amazing t-shirt portraits, and I bet you couldn't get someone to pay $200 for one. It's a t-shirt, nobody frames t-shirt art.
