has anyone tried the auto air range of candies?, got some fire to do and was wondering was the depth of colour similar to the inspire range of candies.

Never tried them myself (never tried any urethanes!) but I have heard good stuff about them. The inspire range is specially formulated for Airbrushes. Its about all that seems to be easily available in the UK in the way of Uro's!
Try the link below to see the full range. There might also be some literature hidden on the site somewhere.

thanks for the link, im currently using a few inspire candies , was wanting to try the auto air range, just wondered if anyone has used the auto air candies to end up with a similar effect to that of the inspire,
down side of the inspire is the immense smell, even with a respirator i can taste that stuff for days :p

AA candies are not true candies and do not give the same results as a urethane candy. Urethane candies are dye based which allows them to be completely transparent (i.e. with enough layers, they will appear almost black). Waterbased candy technology is still limited to a pigment base. The AA candies can give some cool effects, but they are not even close when compared to their urethane counterparts. A few very light layers works ok... beyond that, the pigment takes over and begins covering the layers underneath.

Copyit,

I have used the AA candy blue on my "Contraception" artwork if you want an example of AA Candies.

I am with Wicked. While you can get a single coat candy look using AutoAir , You can not layer them with out getting a muddy look.
Mitch has did a great tutorial on Free Hand Flames using water based paints. But if you are looking for that deep look urethane is the way to go.

Yeah as good as the result turned out - i wouldn't do this on a customer's car because in sun light you'll see the pigment of the 'transparent' colors. Strongly recommend using uro's for now.. on a side note an inside source has told me that Createx are in the midst and getting very close to creating a proper candy range - i wasn't told that they are based on dyes, perhaps new technology, but not pigment based anymore which would be incredible!
gotta jack threads where you can.

I had heard the same thing But was told not to say anything...
We are really gonna have to work on your hijacking ...

I wonder why thats the reason I have been picking up AA Candies from a supplier advertising on ebay for 50% the normal price ... Get rid of stock before new stuff comes out!

Anyway ... I just bought a sh*tload of Inspire Uro candies and some base colors to play with :tongue-new: Just need to buy a mask now :mask:
