Hi , I just felt I need to refresh my mind,by starting something different and quick.
After all those months of painting wildlife, I started missing the human portrait ;)

The idea was to airbrush the portrait on common drawing paper, instead of drawing with pencils ...

This way I could practice free hand airbrushing, and mastering the human face’s features/shading.
Those pieces are meant to be quickly done, so there’s not stricte detailed work - it’s meant for practice/exercise only.

I don’t know whether it’s any good idea to doing so, but I feel it might work for me.
The present portrait I’ve started 3 days ago, it’s nearly done - it’s means I could paint every week something else, so frequently practicing on new subjects might give me greater boost to my skills and experience?

That’s the idea of it ;)

    I’m curious of your opinions?
    Thank you ;)

    - Unfortunately removing the dry paint’s spills aren’t easy - nearly impossible...

Eyebrows, the hair and some tonal adjustments yet to be done ;)

    Thank you for watching ;)

Yes I think so. It’s important you don’t go too dark too early until you got the basics laid down, and only once it’s ready, you tackle the darker values and details.

Good start @PogArt, use the whole spectrum from black to white. Do not go too dark too fast. It looks really good. You have to trust your eyes!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Frank and Micha got you covered , all I can say you have picked the hardest substrate to paint on and you will need to remember you cant erase or correct anything if you go to dark and the hair will be your biggest challenge

Good start Pog. I think your idea to practice these quicker pieces is cool. I’m sure it will help with development.

Thank you, but honesty - it’s meant to be practice/exercise only ;)
So I’m not after to spent hours on detailed work, if you know I mean ;)
I’m just trying to paint it nicely ;)
I’m very appreciated you like it Jimmyfingerz ;)

Thank you you like it Simon ;)
You know - the drawing paper is on the cheap side - the clue is if I do something wrong and bin the piece , I wouldn’t care ;)
    You know I mean ;)
I can practice free hand, or stencils support, try to different spaying angles - anything I think about ;)
When I succeed and the piece will come out nicely - I can give that piece as a free gift?
Or hang it on the wall if I like it ;)
    Cheers Simon ;)

    I do like it.
And I really think it’s a great idea for practicing different techniques. I also get caught up in trying to make each piece as perfect as I can, and forget that it doesn’t need to be perfect but that I should be experimenting and learning.

    That’s right ;)
    Unfortunately I’m the same...
    Since I’ve started a year ago, I wasn’t learning basics,experimenting neither.
I were focusing hard to master every piece I started...
Sometimes it’s lead me to stress, not to relax !
The Claybord is very expensive, so I tried to not to waste the money...

On Facebook I did offer a quick graphite drawings for less money - to practice drawing skills...
I still like to do it,but by airbrush now ;)

Even though I will carry on the graphite exercises - instead of graphite I like to offer airbrushed paintings ON DRAWING PAPER ;)
Just to keep it on cheap offer, and let me practice airbrushing instead of pencils...

I think I need that practice experience a lot.

    Dzieki Simon ;)

PogArt and SiRoxx; you both hit the nail on the head with how I am thinking and learning (trying). Every piece I do HAS
    to come out perfect.
It is hard to NOT do that and to just do simple practice stuff, but as Pog has said, I too always keep thinking about the
cost of materials and not wanting to wast them, so it can get difficult if you allow yourself to think too much about it.

    Yeah V-Twin ;)
I wouldn’t much care if I bin the drawing paper, and the piece I spent a day or three, but it would put me down if I’d bin the Claybord and a month of my hard work ;)

One day I get concerned - why I’m offering pencils drawings instead of airbrush paintings?
Obviously I’m willing to practice and develope greater airbrush skills - not the pencils!

That was the trigger the other day, but took me much longer before I started the piece above ;)
    All the best V-Twin ;)

That's the good thing about paper, its cheap and you can practice shading and using shields etc, scratching and erasing is almost bottom of the list but everything else is good and it saves you working on a substrate that you want to save. I think you have done a good job on the portrait even though it was just practice. You will certainly learn from doing this so carry on. You know we're here to help if you need it.

    Thank you my friend ;)
I know I can always count on you,and all the members ;)
I’m a bit short of time last days, so can not get it done yet...
Basically I’m working everyday, one day coming off late evening, next day starting early morning ;( That’s killer to my positive attitude.
    Best regards Lee ;)

That shift pattern doesn't sound very nice,No time to rest properly. I have done that a few times in the past, I didn't like it.
