Candy2o over HoK White?

First point of call, what does the manufacturer say? They will tell you if there are any compatibility issues.

Here is the Createx Candy 2.0 Tech Data Sheet (TDS) https://creatextech.com/assets/html/pages/Candy2o-TDS.html

Here is an example of the HoK TDS https://www.houseofkolor.com/opencms/export/sites/hok/galleries/techdata/english/C2C-BC.pdf

You could always try a sample panel. As the Candy 2.0 is water based and the HoK is solvent based there may be some compatibility/reaction issues, especially if the base coat is not adequately cured. To be sure it's safest to stick within a given paint system, especially if you are doing the work for someone else.

I'll be interested to hear what others say.

I have never done it but I have seen where people have done a solvent Silver basecoat and then candy 2O over it. I would make a test panel with the HOK and let it cure completely then mask up half the panel and put a coat of intercostal clear on it. Unmask let that dry. Let that cure. Next step would be the candy2O let cure then Clearcoat. It would really be interesting to see the result and if there is any difference in the two half’s of the panel.

Its just a thought. I currently have no HoK or I would have just tried it. I am wanting to give HoK a shot but cant affored to just buy a bunch of colors. I have tons of Candy2o So I thought if compatible I could order HoK black and white and just use some candies for now. Thanks for the info.

As far as I’m aware Createx can be used over urethane paint. There may be an issue if a solvent clear is then being used over top of everything. I don’t know that for sure, but would be the reason I’d test.
