What's the best way to evenly colour a large space.
I'm working on a large hulk portrait on mdf
Just wondering what the best way would be?

A small spray gun is handy for that, there are some that you can use with your airbrush compressor, meaning they can still work under 50 psi.

I don't know if you've ever used one, but the process is to simply apply your paint from an even distance (this will depend on the the thickness of your paint and working pressure) and move your gun form side to side and from top to bottom in layers until you end up with an even finish.

I will have a look for one,thanks
another question
would you just go straight on the mdf or coat it with emulsion first.?

Using opaques. You then can't go darker then the colour in the bottle. Transparents change the more layers you lay down.

If your working on MDF, I would apply an acrylic primer first, I normally do 3-4 coats so that I have an even pure white surface, sanding between layers of course, if you are working mainly with darker colours you can tint the primer to make it into a dark gray, brown or blue to help with covering of subsequent layers.

I have painted heaps of MDF and I use white Gesso first - never had a problem. No need for any other primer as this works.
