Phew, that is a mouthful of a post - First, about the trigger - most of your observations are pretty correct, but in terms of application, not really relevant. For discussions sake, the only aspect that will really matter is the interaction of the parts when the trigger is both depressed, and then pulled back.
The nozzle protrusion, as well as the gap around the nozzle in the nozzle cap are 100% the business end of the brush. Fractions of millimeters can make measurable differences in performance here. The "issue" on the H&S brushes is not the trigger (although they have an odd feel) it is the amount of pressure differential created across the nozzle tip, and its ability to overcome surface tension of the paint sample in the brush body. Paint reduction/air pressure are more important on the Infinity vs. the Evolution. Both are more finicky than many other brushes about getting it right - I have not experienced the same issues either the new Ultra, or Evolution - a least not to the same extent.
