have you ever had a moment when you lay out some good work and then move onto something that someone else wants you to do and its like all your inspiration/skills/talent etc just seem to escape you until you work on something you want to work on? lol even though i havent picked up my brush in a week or so, i started to plan out an ohio state tshirt for my dad and decided to do a practice design on a piece of paper before i lay something down on a shirt.............. well nothing goes/looks/feels right like ive completely lost my need to do it lol i go back to working on one of my things and its there again............... idunno maybe im just weird. anyone else ever experience this?:dejection:

Inspiration and flow. Your mind is still occupied with what your inspired to do to block the creative flow for the one your not interested in doing. Everyone I know gets that way. Not just limited to art.

I have to agree with mrsuthern.
Inspiration comes and goes like the tides and we have to learn to take advantage of it.
Try to look at the one you have to do as a challenge to your ability, see what there is in it that causes you problems.
Whatever you find in it, there is always a way forward, even if it doesn't go in the direction we originally intended.
Sometimes I find I just have to let it go it's own way, it is usually for the better.

Oh all of the time!! And to me, I can see it in my work. Nobody else can, but I see it. Take for instance, a stupid ass BEE thingy on wood!! Not into it AT ALL!! And, it shows

Use to be a saying hung up in a barracks in some far off land that read Put you heart into it or get your ass out.
Granted something it is hard to put your heart into , Like a Bee Hive but when your an airbrush for hire that is what you get into at time. Me , If I did not like the customers concept I would send them down the road .

Sometimes you just feel it, and the paint just flows out of you, sometimes it's just hard work, the less it appeals to you, the harder work it is.

I feel your pain man. Sometimes even in the middle of a project inspiration and desire leave me.

I can definately empathise with this feeling. And I agree that you can see the shortcomings of your efforts in your own work when the river of inspiration runs dry. What sorts the men from the boys is that technical ability and artistic experience can make up somewhat for the the times inspiration is in decline, allowing one to produce good results, inspite of having little or none of your personal artistic spirit (inspiration) invested in the piece. There is some satisfaction to be obtained from producing a work in this fashion, but none so great as when you are fired by inspiration which most often leads to superior art. When Inspiration is lacking..try perspiration! lol
