I've seen the video posted in the sticky, with the badger guy. I've tried his method of spray out the paint, add some windex(or similar cleaner) and spray that out, then add some water and spray that out. seems to clean most of the paint out, but I do notice that when looking into the paint well there is some dried up paint stuck on the needle and around the edges of the bottom of the well.... any suggestions on how to get rid of this? my eclipse appears to have the well attached to the shaft, so it's impossible for me to actually take it off to clean it out. also the badger guy said we shouldn't need to take the whole brush apart (and I'd love not to have to) as it is a waste of time.

Cheers,

denatured alcohol and a cotton swab on the bowl , the needle and nozzle I soak in Airbrush Restorer (made by Createx ) or you can also soak it in denatured alcohol. But main thing is not to let any of the teflon or rubber parts sit in it.

will the 50% alcohol for medicine(cuts) work as well?

It will just not as fast acting as 100% denature will.

But the 50% stuff you can let sit in the cup for a while and not hurt the seals.

I use 50/50 Denatured Alcohol and water.

I....

- Dump the paint
- Put water in the cup and cycle through back flushing and blowing out the water
- Wipe out the paint cup with a rag or paper towel(if there is any paint in the cup, i use a stiff oil paint brush to get it out with some water in the cup)
- Pull the needle, and wipe it down, and put it back
- Flush and back flush another 1/2 cup or so of water
- Put the 50/50 mix in my cup and blow it through for about a half second
- Clean up the rest of my mess, put my paints away
- After the alcohol mix sat in for a few minutes, I flush and back flush it
- Flush with some more water

The first couple steps get most of the paint out. The alcohol mix in the cup for a few minutes loosens up anything that may be dried in the cup or nozzle.

Now that is a great step by step Jeff.

I agree- nicely done. When you pull our needle out, do you pull it out the back, or the front? I have heard 'pull it out the back', 'never pull it out the back'. Just seems like taking that tiny tip off my hp-ch is just asking for trouble. If there is any paint left on the needle, will pulling it out the back affect the teflon packing? Just wondering. I talked to the guy from Iwata who put out the video on cleanng an ab, and told him that some people were amazed that he took the needle out the back, and he was amazed that they were amazed. Amazing, eh?
