how to make a rusty effect

Hi there everyone,

I wanted to know how to make a rusty effect on e.g. some letters so they look like an old road-sign standing in the dessert for ages :)
I appreciate any type of information ;)

Rootbeer , It is the cure all for rust. Depending on the exact effect you use either trans rootbeer or candy..

Damn good question and I shall keep an eye on this to see what the others say.

But, if I was going to try this myself without first having advice, I think would likely mix some brick red/brown and use a fine spatter effect on the areas where I wanted to see the rust, possibly using a transparent.

There will a more knowledgeable along very soon, lol
