infinity or micron

Air-Valve Autobot!
just curious i posted a video trouble with my velocity and im actually sending it back to badger to have a look at it. I have an infinity and it still does not do what I think it should. I can get a loan this week and get myself a micron but if im still having issues i will cut my own head off i have been air brushing for quite some time now i have been using wiked createx and badger opaques im not interested in shooting trans parents the both airbrushes do fine wit that what i want is when i want to paint katy perrys eye lashes and i go to press down and ever so slightly pull back on the trigger i want a reliable fine line of paint to flow from the nozzle. i don't think its the paint reduction or paint i just tried the velocity and it is spiting paint randomly all over my work i don't want to give up on airbrushing i just want reliable equipment. What do you think should I go for a micron or not I am trying to air brush for a living not for fun and i don't want to do tee shirts i want photo like finishes

I have an Infinity and I can assure you that airbrush can do some hell of eyelashes. You have to control the air preassure/flow ( from the compressor ) and the paint reducer.. do not focus only on the paint.. The Infinity is an excelent airbrush. You just have to keep discover it. You can do perfect works with it!

Even thou I own a Micron , It is not the airbrush that makes the art but the artist.
That being said which ones fits into you budget the best? For me I stuck with something that was easier to get parts for , But Micron parts are not cheap.

I have an infinity and I find I use it more at low pressure, I use auto air at the moment but I'm going to try com art as that's designed for the small nozzle set up.I'm still getting use to mine and I have good and bad days with it! Lol

Ok you have 2 different airbrushes that for some reason do not work, i would figure out why before i threw money after yet another airbrush.

The Micron is a wonderful Airbrush, but so is the infinity, if you want to make money from Airbrushing then i wouldnt go get a loan to get a Micron, safe up to get it later on will be better and you will not pay interest on safed money.

Are you sure you have the reduction/pressure correct? If you airbrushes can shoot transparents with no issues but not opaques, then im sure it is not the airbrushes thats the issue here.

I have an infinity and can paint lines thinner than a hair with wicked paints I tend to grab my infinity before my micron allot. If you don't believe me look at the toolbox I just painted look at the eye lids and the detail lines. Wicked detail colors need to be reduced and trans based I use 5 drops reducer 5 drops reducer two drops of detail white or whatever color I'm using thats my starting point. Air pressure is major thing here if you think there is airbrush that you can just load paint in and spray perfect lines with out having your paint and airpressure dialed in along with having trigger control then you will be disappointed in any airbrush you buy.

ther velocity is a great brush also, there is not a great deal you can do with these brushes that you can't with you velocity..at already mentioned, get then working first if I was you

ok thanks to all who replie i will send the velocity in for a check up and order a new needle nozzle set for the infinity i have put down lines using badger air opaque as fine or finer thain hair i would not be surprised if i send in the badger and a new one comes back also i should look into com art and its quite possible i have contaminants in my paint i could not imagine my disapointmaent if i got the micron and stil had the problem ha ha

i dont know why but that infinity worked like a charmwhen i first got it dont know what happend but i think il just send it back to badger they are pretty good about replacing stuf maybe i damaged it some how as for the infinity i agree i have sprayed lines finer Thain hair im thinking contamination i would love to try com art

It's the paints not the brush, the paints are junk. Stay away from any Createx product all it's good for is a headache.
Com art or Golden work really well, but if your doing t-shirts Com Art will not work. Golden make a T-Shirt paint haven't tried it, but I know a few that have and works and works WAY better than any Createx product. With the Com Art and Goldens that I have used I have almost zero tip dry and you can spray at low psi. It's almost has good as shooting uro's
You may also have have a small crack in the nozzle or bent needle tip or both or some dried up paint in the nozzle.

It's a little unfair to say that a paint is junk, because you've had a bad experience with it......I could say it's not the paint it's you, because I know people that use nothing but createx and they are some of the best airbrush artist in the world....:)

Lol, I haven't used anything other than wicked by createx in a year and love it!! Granted com art is awesome paint, but I don't feel like ordering 2oz bottles. If anyone thinks createx is junk look at corey st Clair's work, along with Mitch's, tsunami's to name few. It all boils down to personal preference.

yer well who the hell is corey st clair anyhow, not like he's some kind of automotive expert pushing boundaries constantly delivering outstanding work.he's only been in the lost boys and the goonies ....oh no...wait...sorry thats corey feldman......corey st clair is awesome.apparently he users that awesome paint by createx?? who knew ;o)

Now I have heard from many people on here have a very hard time getting createx their h&s guns, it may be hard to get the proper reduction, I don't know cause I don't own one. I'm just not one to bash a company cause I don't like to use it. There is to much proof out there that keeps me from saying other wise. I don't believe any of the products are junk, or they wouldn't still be in business. Like I said its all personal preference and availability in your area.

Josh

You all might be right. Maybe I should of re-worded it better. If you do a search about createx in just about evey forum people have a lot of trouble using a paint that has corned the market. Only way to get a non-toxic paint to spray right is to add things to it that makes it more toxic than you started with. Why is it that Createx can not accomplish what Com Art or Golden had done? This is the part that has me shaking my head for years.
So I will restate that the reason I think Createx is junk is the tip dry problem they have. If you can keep it spraying for more that 10 seconds at a time thinning it down it's great paint. Might not be a professional airbrush painter, but I am a professional commercial painter for almost 20 year so I do have some knowledge about paint and spraying it.

First let me say I'm not pick a fight or wanting to, this just seems to be a good discussion, and if I have offended anyone with my wording, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it that way. This is a good little debate ;)
Com art is great an golden sounds good to, also would like to try trident. But doesn't the com art and golden already have those type of chemicals in them to make them spray so good? I'm not being a smart a--, I just don't know a whole lot about them in that sense. Water based in nature will give tip dry faster than any, it's the one thing all airbrush artist have in common is hating tip dry and wishing it acted like urethanes. I don't know what wicked can't do. You can use it on any surface, auto, canvas, shirts, wood , etc. but you did say com art can't be used on t shirt and don't know about golden, well I think that is why createx has cornered the market because they can. I do agree with you about createx not being able to perform out of the bottle as good as com art, and sure would think that it would be great for createx to make a line that is comparable to com art in that fashion, it would be awesome. Spectra tex is also great straight out the bottle. Make ya wonder what the reasoning is behind it.

I think standard createx is an age old paint now, which was developed for the brushes of the time. the infinity was not one of those, i believe createx pigment is not as finely ground as wicked which obviously is what createx are now pushing (and alot of people are picking up) but like any paint you have to find what works for you, and what works for your brush....the size if pigment particles does matter of course, but we are still talking microscopic particles, it's not as if you are trying to fire peas through the brush!. I love wicked sure it tip dries when reducing one to one but it holds up in sunlight, can be used on any surface, cheap, and a rainbow of colors, but take it down to 1 paint to 20reducer (which you can't to with all paints) and you can get some great results which would be ok for the fine art specialist

That's what tsunami uses, and what Mitch was using when he sucked us all in with his tutorials, lol!!! Just ha to throw that in there;) but you are right about the fine pigments that can be reduced that far and still be color fast. It is amazing to think of with water based paints
