kustom krome

Hi does anyone have any experience using a devilbiss dagr ie is it a well made brush and what should be expected of it. Just I have one and I'm new to the art but think I may have a problem with mine it has a self centering nozel on it but when I pull back on the trigger it feels like the needle rubs down the side of the nozzleand and is causing a very small bend in a new needle any info would be much appreciated
Thanks
Warren

I had 2 of these, very briefly, when I first started out. The first arrived with a cracked nozzle, and bent needle, and got returned the second arrived with machine scoring inside the body of the AB where the self centering nozzle sits, and the cup on the top was off center to the body. Obviously neither of them performed, and although I had read plenty of good things about them from people who had guns without issues, the poor quality control put me off and I went with Iwata instead.

I can't comment on the dagr but i have an old Devilbiss super 63 which is fantastic. and also like Squishy I can't fault my iwata or a badger ( lots of users on here have the krome ) See if you can get it looked at, maybe a pro can make them work better. Or just sell it cheap and get a new make.

Thanks squishy
I wondered if there could be a problem with the body as I do get bubbles coming back into the cup I have to put beeswax where the nozzle goes kinda looks and feels like it was never cleanly machined think I'm gonna save up for the iwata then at least anything going wrong is down to me and not the brush thanks for the information

I would beeswax all of the threads then make sure that the nozzle is clean, it sounds like that's all your problem is. Sometimes beeswax doesn't work and you have to use ptfe plumbers tape. Give it a go before you buy a new one.

I haven't tried a DAGR personally, but I haven't heard a whole lot of good things about them. Most of what I've heard reflects whats been said here. Mostly questionable quality and sub-par fit and finish.

The old Devilbiss airbrushes (like the Super 63) are great. They where actually made by Devilbiss in England, and where considered the closest rival to the microns in there time. Unfortunately, the DAGR is made by someone else, then branded "Devilbiss". I forget who's making them for Devilbiss now, though.

I'd recommend getting an Iwata HP-CS.

Well I don't think I'm gonna be giving you anything to change your opinion about them lol but think im just gonna have to deal with the faults while I save my penny's for the iwata :) the main thing is that it gets jobs done to get my stock of paints and stencils while trying the whole saving malarkey thank you all for all your info I'm now really looking forward to trying the best of the best.
