Hi

not really sure where to post this as its a question about both an airbrush and also compressor
but following my previous thread a lot of good opinions and comments.. so i will try it here

so i have read all the comments and seriously looking now at this combination

i will not be doing makeup....just posted to see the brush in action

i went for that compressor as was noticed that the airbrush HP-TH needed more airflow
so the minimum for the brush is 1.2 CFM and the maximum from the compressor is 1.4 CFM
about 0.2 CFM difference... is that ok ?

i like the airbrush cause it looks good for splatter effects... good with the fan tip and also normal tip
so can do a lot of different things in one package....
i would also like to use metal flake in the brush with this compressor -Ultra or small flake....

will the HP-TH and the Iwata studio Power Jet be enough / compatible together?
looking to buy once a good quality brush and compressor which will last me a decent time...

do i need anything else... the compressor comes with a 3 meter braided hose..One 1/4 BSP outlet
so will i need any adaptor or this will just hook up to the brush...
the brush has a MAC valve on it....also a moisture filter....

i will be using createx airbrush paint at 40psi or slightly more....
working pressure of the compressor is 0-60psi

never used an airbrush before so still learning all the parts....
and tried to do as much reading as i can before asking for advise

if these anything i missed please let me know

Createx don't do a metal flake paint, which means you will need a means of getting the dry flake onto your surface..

the reason I ask, is that the mini flake buster that was mentioned on the other thread is only compatible with Iwata Eclipse series airbrushes, Siphon or Gravity. I haven't investigated whats available for the guns....

not technically a 'createx' product.... I'm being pedantic I know lol

and yes I'm putting the HP-TH into a 'gun' category

just trying to help PsPO get the right gear for his desired outcome, rather than spend $$$$$$ and find out he should have bought something else instead - like we all seemed to do in the beginning

thanks Guys for your comments and trying to save some money...as these 2 items are not cheap....
but i have tried to always get the best i can from what i have available...
and i think i can recoup this money from sales in a couple months....

I was speaking generally about createx airbrush paint... which i will do most of the work with
but when the need arises then i would get some "clear" mixed with metal flake and spray that onto the wooden cubes....

i dont actually know what "clear" is .. but i saw it on some videos...
first things first and well as i mentioned the HP-TH looks like the real deal to me...
i need something which will appeal visually with the techniques that it is capable of doing.. .. as versatile as possible
like the Fan spray patterns.... the splatter techniques which this brush is suppose to be very good at ..... which is mentioned in the video i posted...
also the second head can be used as a traditional airbrush....
i need good blending sometimes of colours... (eg- top of the cube blue and bottom will be orange... but a nice soft blend in the middle will be wonderful

will also be masking areas of colours...some hard line techniques... soft blends ....etc etc....

i will also pick up an Iwata cleanpot....as heard they are a terrific...
is there anything else i need - good cleaning fluid brand ??

so compatibility wise hows it looking for the items listed in the first post
a good combination.??.....

we have a couple of Automotive/Lure guys here that can elaborate on the 'clear' that you should look out for, so i'll leave that to them, I'm clueless as to what is /isn't good. (but would like to know for the future. )

I love the 'createx restorer' brilliant product, reusable so its economical.
no real need for the branded clean pot for general cleaning, I've a plastic pot with a screw lid, with a hole in the side large enough for the airbrush head to fit snug, a few holes drilled in the lid, put a 'chux' dish cloth over the pot, screw the lid on and away you go..... I do have the Iwata clean pot that I use for the 'createx restorer' and only the restorer, its glass so it doesn't absorb anything and once I'm done spraying the restorer I decant it into a reusable lidded pot.

as far as the combo of gun /compressor it seems fine to me, but I'm uber curious as to what it is that you are doing !! lol

all the Createx paints can be mixed together from the Auto Air to the Illustration range, this includes all the reducers/cleaners/intercoats
The sparklescent range is the flake and iridescent is the pearls these come in a transparant base ready to spray.
I have sprayed DNA 2K Diamond clear through my .5 revolution with no problems, you just have to get gun cleaner for 2K solvents. Not sure if you could add the flake to the clear with that size? I know dry flake comes in a lot of micron sizes.
I would try the hot rod sparkle range to see how it comes out, to my eyes it looks great, has that old funfair dodgems look to it :)

I'd never considered doing metal flake anything, I'd thought maybe in the future some 'metalic' types of paint, but if @musicmacd has managed to put hot rod sparkle through something other than an industrial size needle then I may have to rethink my plans, I grew up in the era when bumper cars were just that.... BUMPer cars, these days they call them dodgem cars

Will noise be an issue with the compressor?
Also how big are your cubes that your spraying?
If you're looking to do a lot of flake on big cubes I would look at a mini / touch up gun

7x7x7 so not big at all.
@JackEb i found reducing it about 30/40% works well. I even sprayed HOK shimrin Silver through it fine (.5needle)

thanks again....
seems like the compressor and hp-th will be a good combo

the rest i hope will pick up as i go along... will watch lots of videos here and elsewhere....
