Matte Medium

I have a bottle of Liquitex Matte Medium Artist Acrylic. On the bottle its's marked paint, fluid, matte, transparent. It's white in color and very thin. What is it used for. It was shipped to my by mistake with another order and they told me to keep it for it would cost to much to return.

I would have to think its a matte coat, like a top
coat, apply over artwork for matte finish. I could
be wrong though. I have never used liquitex.

Thanks for help.

You mix it in the paint to make paints transparent w ithout thinning it. If you just use water, you make it transparent and thin. I always use medium even if it is just a drop. It helps with flow as well.

I have Golden Fluid Matte Medium and use it to take out the gloss from some Golden Fluid paints so they all have a matte finish. It also does what AndreZA says and can be used for other effects which are described on the Golden website. I've also seen a YouTube video where a Matte Medium was used to transfer photocopied/laserjet pictures onto a stretched canvas. Look on the Liquitex website for more details on their product cos it can be different to Golden Fluid Matte Medium.
cheers Mel
