Scott
Double Actioner
I finally was able to get my email confirmation taken care of so I can make this post.
Im Scott, very new to airbrushing, not so much to art have done a bit of acrylic painting and oil painting but I have never really dedicated myself to it. I do a lot of custom ice fishing rod building and have been trying to come up with a way to make my rods stand out above all the other rods, custom and production, on the ice. I never really thought about painting not only the handles but also the rod blanks themselves before until I had a customer ask me to build one for him and when I asked him what colors he would like with the thread work, he said he didn't care just make it pop. I sat for weeks wondering how I was going to make a rod POP more than it already does without using florescent thread which he didn't want. Thats when it hit me that painting the handles would really make a rod scream if its done correctly.
I had a cheap airbrush kit from hobby lobby that an ex girlfriend gave me so I started playing around with it. For anyone who has messed with those cheap kits you know how inconsistent that they can be. Well lucky for me I got caught up in the air hose one night while I was working with it and dropped it on the floor and the entire tip literally broke off. So I went up too Hobby Lobby picked up a Iwata NEO and have been painting as much as I can. A few needles and a few nozzles later I am finally starting to gain some confidence and control with it, I still suck but every day I get a little bit better and I can see how much this is going to take my rod building game to a whole new level.
Looking forward to learning from all of you and share my experiences where I can.
