I am brand new to airbrushing. I bought a itawa smartjet compressor and paashce vl94671 for 40 bucks today. Im not getting any paint. I took the entire thing apart and cleaned with a paint sprayer kit. put back together and still nothing. I am getting bubbles in the paint holder though. What is next step? Should I buy new sprayer or a rebuild kit.

dude look at airbrushtutors tutorials.. it explains all that... blockage ,, paint thinning,,,, nozzle clogging,, its all there check it out and it on video...

go to the troubleshooting section a little further down on the home page.. This is a VERY common problem

Well after cleaning the crap out of it and playing around it seems to shoot some water out only when I first push the trigger. When the compressor is at 45psi. It is a siphon type of brush. I think i will try to hook it up to my big shop air compressor and see if it works like that to determine if it is a suction issue

Straight water should spray at 45 psi no problem. Make sure there is a hole in your color bottle at the top and that it is not blocked. If no air gets in it can not siphon up the paint. Also cleaning a nozzle can be a pain the first time.

Is this a new or used brush? I ask only because if used a previous owner may have not known how to properly clean the tip of dried paint.

Also is it a dual or single action airbrush?

You said it was a VL so it should be dual in my mind , but I could very well be wrong.

i apoligize i may have used wrong terminology. The paint comes from the side. and yes it is a dual. when i hit the trigger it drops down to about 25 psi and stays at that point till i release.

its not a reduction problem my friend its more Thain likely the nozzle does not have a good seal or the regulatoe does not have a good seal im not familiar to that kind of air brush my infinity has a drop in nozzle with a teflon seal if that seal becoms damaged even slightly i get bubbles in the cup and if the regulator is not tight i stil get bubbles also in the bad ger 150 if the nozzle gets removed and replaced with out using bees wax you wil get bubbles also it might be a needle bearing issue. i gret bubble problems all the time with my infinity becaus of worn parts i need toreplace but i have several other guns that work just as well so the infinity is on the back burner ...well not realy lol also if you can get a loop or some typ of magnifier hold the nozzle with tweezers to check its not cracked or clogged there are a number of reasons you wont get paint but you will get bubles

peace out shiny new dude and may the luck of zorg be with you

Going to say screw it and just go buy a new airbrush. Anything you guys reccomend for a brand new person and should it be the kind with the jar or a gravity feed?

Depends what you want to do really buddy. .. syphon feed (one with a jar) is preferred by mural and t shirt artists due to the amount of paint they want to put down.... if your planning on doing slightly more refined work then you want a side feed (like you already got) or a gravity feed( from top) both have similar performance its just down to preference where you want the cup. ... the badger patriot isa great brush to hey started with add is the iwata eclipse. ... Both have similar performance at least at beginner level but the Badger you will find nice and cheap at hobby lobby ( specially if you download the 40% off voucher. ..

Fez is a bit confused. You can get the Neo( made for iwata) and the iwata eclipse at hobby lobby, yes get the 40% coupon, you can get the patriot at michaels also get a coupon.

Or order on line. You will find better pricing this way, just get it from a trusted source like coast airbrush, or other trusted sites.

You have to excuse Fez, he's from the UK, so he isn't all up on all the resources and all that here in the states. Totally understandable though.

They have a decent selection of Wicked and Createx, usually a few stencils and other assorted parts. Do yourself the favor and spend a few extra bucks and get the Eclipse not the NEO, you will have leas quality issues that way.

The neo will work. Chill. It may be a bit finicky. It is made "for" Iwata not an actual iwata. It's good for those just starting out on a budget. If you feel that strongly exchange it.

If you are frustrated and not sure if you want to continue airbrushing at all, keep it, that way if you throw in the towel you wont have spent as much. If you come to love it, keep it as a second brush when you do upgrade.

im not sure what your using for paint but before you get to frustrated i can recoment com art you can get a set on ebay for cheep or at coast airbrush you can use it straight out of the bottle with out having to reduce and it wont clog your gun my air brush suggestion would have been one of the used iwatas from coast or a bad ger renegade velocity they might be pricey but the one thing they do is work . i went thorough the ringer when i started theirs allot of frustration in the beginning and there shouldn't be. the only reason i stuck to it is probly because i love it if you put yourse;lf to it you can do some amazing stuffeces with an air brush that you cant do with a pen or brush. good luck to you ....now in the next hour i want to see some lines i want them like hair and straight like a ruller NOW DO IT just kidding good luck
