Hi everyone,

I recently painted a portrait of my dog onto my mailbox. I thought some people here might enjoy the process and techniques, so I tired by best to film everything:

There was a reson for every airbrush used - The Eclipse Takumi for most of the actual painting. The Micron for any details that I couldn't do with the Takumi. The Paasche VL (with its largest spray head) for the Auto Borne so that I don't gum up my other brushes. And the AB Turbo for that unique way that it can do controlled spatter...

Hi again,

I thought some of you here might appreciate an update. - This photo was taken earlier today, after my dog portrait has spent a year outside in the Canadian weather. There's no fading or wear that I can notice, so this should tell you everything you need to know about the quality of the materials used:

Createx transparent Auto Borne Sealer as a coating between the aluminum and the paint

Createx Wicked Colors Detail Black, thinned out with their 4011 reducer

• & then sealed with an auto clear: Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Clear Satin Ultra Cover

This also shows the benefits of properly preparing one's surfaces. - & I just noticed in the above video that I never mentioned the degreaser I applied to the aluminum before spraying the Auto Borne. I used "Fantastik Original All Purpose Cleaner," as it's supposed to be good with aluminum.

I should note that my mailbox sits outside under a covered deck. So while it has endured the sun and all the temperature changes, it rarely if ever came into direct contact with rain or snow...
