Hi everyone, there is a little story to the pictures I've posted below.
A friend of mine has an elderly mum who has the "old people" problem - dementia!
About the only thing in the world she reacts too is an old photo of her long dead pet dog who was called Chloe.
My friend asked me if I could paint a picture from the photo but bigger as her mum's eyes are failing as well.
I have been inspired to have a go at fur since I have joined this forum and seen the awesome examples shown here so I said I would give it a go.
My friend asked me how much the picture would cost so I told her up front that I was new at doing animals and it might not turn out very well.
I told her that I would do it for her Christmas pressie and she could give it to her mum as a pressie, win-win :)
The first picture is the reference I had I tried to copy the grass and failed miserably so I used a bit of artistic licence and hanged the background but basically the dog is the same (almost lol)
Painted on Schollerhammer #4 25x35cm, Etac and wicked paint through my HP-C+ & HP-B+

    Chloe 1.jpg The ref Pic.

    Chloe 6.jpg My rendition

I hope you like it but I hope a little old lady likes it more!

    Spread the Love!

This may sound weird, but my favorite part is the log you put in that he's jumping over. Great job all around!

I like stories like this. You know she is gonna start crying, and everyone else is gonna cry. Should be a nice moment.

Hey Marty, you did a fine job of it! You've captured the movement and puppy's likeness perfectly. And, I love the background you created. It works.

The story is heartwarming and your a great guy too!! :)

I had to put my Westie - Findley - down three days after my motorcycle accident last year. I refer to it as "hell week". The painting you did, in my eyes, is fantastic. Well done! One day I will try to do mine & hope it comes out half as good as yours. cheers.

Lovely painted, I too think the log is brilliant, you captured the character of the dog despite the poor ref photo.

I truly hope so @Squishy , When I was little I lived with my nan and the neighbors were always doing things for her and helping her out and I have always tried to help old folk and I think we all owe it to the older generation to look after them
My friend said she would try and film her mum opening it on her phone .... I just hope the old lady isn't too overcome!

I think the dog looks better in your painting than in the reference photo.
The log is just brilliant, very well rendered texture!

All in all.. Excellent Job!:)
