Its kinda funny in a way how people that are skilled and experienced at something have trouble putting things in terms a noob can comprehend. I'm not sure how experienced you are at airbrushing, but you certainly have a knack for breaking it down to simple steps that anyone can understand.

So when are you releasing an instructional video? ;) I'd buy it sight unseen!

Lol, don't think of myself as experienced enough to publish instructional video's, I have not had any training or courses myself so would probably teach everything the wrong way :)

Now in my fourth year of airbrushing having learnt everything I know from this forum or every YouTube video I could get my hands on :)

Thank you for your kind comments..

You definitely have found a system that works for you and I agree with Jurien, the steps are coming over loud and clear.

    Latest update :)

Time to start on the larger feathers, first step just freehand fine airbrush strokes to establish shape and initial idea of textures.
    feather_1.jpg

Next erase in some textures with a very very light touch of the fibre pen.
    feather_2.jpg

Now go back in with colour (burnt umbra), just as before using fine airbrush strokes build up the layers and hence the colour depth ensuring the 'bottom' of the scratches are blended in i.e lifting the airbrush away from the surface as I reach the ends of the scratches.
    feathers_3.jpg

It just so happens burnt umbra is just about the right colour match so all I have do now is blend in a bit of golden ochre , while I was at it carried on and did few more feathers.

One more session should see this finished, as I progress further with a painting I always end up going back over previous area's and adjust shadows and contrast as I tend to always go a bit 'light' at first but as the rest of the painting develops and more dark area's get added I can see where adjustments need to be made. I have been back and forth a few times in each session so far :)

    Hogwash!
Your training is real life experience and the results speak for themselves. If your methods include tossing paint at the canvas using a toothbrush then so be it. You should absolutely teach in any capacity you are able to.:)
