I left some 4012 on a desk by a window where it was often exposed to sunlight. After a few weeks it made most paints I used it on seed like crazy. Especially CI.
I cut the reducer with water to see if I could save it. Ended up adding maybe 25 percent back to it in water before the seeding problem stopped. The bottle was closed but not super tight so idk if this was evaporation or just an effect of UV exposure.
Anyhow point is this can happen, and it can be fixed w water.

I know Wicked (and therefore assume also the createx brand generally - though assume makes an ass from u and me lol) does not cope well with either excessive cold or heat. Incorrect storage is a major factor. I have returned brand new bottles suggesting they may have been stored incorrectly during transportation, or warehouse/store , after noticing clumping etc, and have received brand new replacements as the possibility was agreed. Never had it happen to restorer though, but seems to be a 'thing'.

Very interesting. Did you end up getting pure 2-Butoxyethanol? I was gonna get some once my stock ran out of reducer, but I have alot and its gonna be awhile. I'm curious what happens if you use higher concentrations. I have some trident reducer, which I'm dead sure is the same stuff, and it is a 9:1 mixture water:concentrate.

Yeah, it's all I've generally been using. Probably take forever to run out since a bottle makes about 5l
But I still get the little bottles of 4012 w primary sets.
If you use too high of concentration the paint just seeds up right away.

I havent seen any difference using it to using 4012. I've done up 4020 as well by adding a little acetone and like it but never bought actual 4020 so idk if I got the concentration exactly right.
