Scales

Detail Decepticon!
Hi,All.
Just thought about doing some scales and wondered how you went about it.
Got hold of one of those scrunchy shower scrubs and removed the central string.
Voila! Instant template for scales!
Tried a few passes over the stuff, just to see what effect it gives and was very impressed.
Cheap [always good!] and easily moved around.
I mounted some in a rectangular frame so I could hold it and spray at the same time.
Hope this helps some-one other than me!

If you can throw up a pic of what it looks like that would be cool. Thanks

Scales 2

Hi, All.
Here are some pics [hopefully!] of the scale material frame I made. Sorry about the crappy pics.
It's either my shaky hand or my phone. Can't decide which! LOL.

I used the same stuff for my sons pocket bike. It was what they put oranges in.

Cool thanks, can't wait to see the finished product now..

Yes, similar stuff, but the scrub one has a more rounded look to the holes, more hexagonal in shape, even though they only have 4 sides.
Was more like the scales I wanted to create , and a whole lot easier than outlining!

An old mesh laundry bag works well also. bentoad

Is it the one that my wife uses for her stockings, etc?
Sorta looks like the same mesh!
If I steal hers, I could be in trouble, so I'll ask her to get me one next time she goes to town.LOl!

That's what I like to see, a bit of resourcefulness using things around the house. Who needs expensive stencils?

I shop all the thrift shops and I also find old lace , doilies and anything else that mike an effect. good hunting you can get that stuff for 10 to 20 cents. bentoad

I am in the agricultural textile industry, AND I dont mind shopping for material for the missus.....I suggest going to your local haberdashery/material shop and asking to see their offcuts, I got a huge variety of stuff that will give great effects :)
