One of my daughters bought me a Pyrography wood burning kit for xmas, ( I thought it was a soldering iron when I opened it lol), so decided to 'have a go ' with it during a break from my latest painting.

This is just under A4 on a piece of plywood I had in the garage.

Why have I posted pyrography stuff here you might ask ? well I thought it was interesting to note that I used the same process as when I airbush a T-shirt, i.e darks first to set a base line for the tones then build up layers with lots of small strokes.

I think my test piece turned out quite good, certainly a very interesting art medium and something I will pursue alongside my airbrushing.

Just need to find the time to fit all the hobbies in... :)

And you then you thought "what a nice present!"lollollol

I've seen somewhere combination of wood burning and ABing, that was interesting technique. But can't remember where that was, so couldn't give the link.

That looks really cool, thanks for sharing Bean. Looks like you’re a dab hand with a “soldering iron” too LOL.

Master of the "soldering iron"! ;) That is very cool. I'm curious if the plywood art work would play nice with AB paints. Looking forward to seeing more.

Definitely! Just shoot a layer of clear on the surface, then sand it down for removing raised wood fibers, then another layer of clear, then sand again for ABing. I think, waterbased transparent base (or whatever you use there in your WB AB paints line) would also work like "clear" in this case, I mean would do the same to the plywood surface for further AB work. Those, who use WB AB paint could say for sure, though.

I have that same wood burning tool, but it came in a soldering kit ;) . Looks fantastic, Steve! There is a woman in one of the art groups I frequent that combines pyrography with colored pencil, and her results are always stunning. I am sure if you chose to try combining some AB color into the wood burning, your pieces would be amazing, as well.

Great job Bean, if and when you decide to add some airbrushing to it (or another piece) then make sure you let us all know
