Finally I found some time again to airbrush a bit. I got some airbrush related Christmas gifts and while I could not use the flake King yet, I started a picture with the air oil and lead grisaille kit. I never used any createx for details and Usual I am used to work transparent. I was always curious about the premixed shades of grey since I tend to get lazy and don't work in enough shades. Also the idea to go back and forth with dark and bright colors sounds very appealing to me.

I worked 99% freehand on a size roughly a3 and a sotar 20/20 Airbrush that I lately prefer over my micron. Anyway..here we go. :)

First I transfered the image, changed some details that I preferred and started with the middle grey to just lay out some lines and areas that I can find myself back in the sketch a bit better.

Now I could write a big how to, but in general I just go darker slowly and alltough I planned to use the set as intentioned I erased some areas rather than going in with the very bright shades. Somehow I always have problems seeing how I work with them.. I probably need more light at my airbrush space as well.

I normally use whatever color I have avaible at my place. Mainly etac so far, but the createx, all thought I am still no fan of using reducer instead of water for reducing, are working very nice, the dark as well the bright ones. Steve Gibson from what I read, prefers to use very high pressure and low reducer, while I still used them on a lower pressure and more reduced.

More steps are following... And I tend to reach my natural point of "I don't want to invest much more time in this work" point. Unfortunately I just can't spent 20, 30 hours and more on one artwork... Yet. Maybe in the future. ;)

At the moment I am about to finish it and I will varnish it tomorrow.. And keep the thread updated here.
    Thank you for reading.

That’s looking great! I don’t think I’ve seen anyone on this forum use the Steve Gibson set, so it’s nice to see that in action. Nice work Buddy.

Looking great! You’re putting the grisaille kit to good use. I’m eager to see what more you do. The concept sounds interesting.

Nice work, m3ntalo! It does pay off not to give in to the urge to go dark too early.

I finished the work today. It was planned monochrome, as it was mainly to get used to the colors. I am not sure if I can / will be able to use the cyan, magenta, yellow method of the set, since I am already bad in color theory and this is even more confusing.
As written yesterday I go darker and then use a brighter tone to define the areas. At the end I stopped at a stage that I liked, alltough you could have done a lot more and there is still too much white in the suit.
At the end I used some markers for the outline and silver and gold leaf plus gold color for the left corner. It's protected by a varnish.

And after the framing the end result... Which I seem to never can photograph in a nice way.
