Theres no stupid questions mate 4G is a purpose made paper/board for airbrushing, its schollershammer 4G (dont quote my spelling). Its can be expensive but a great ssurface to spray on, good for erasing on

Found it on Amazon. Not too bad in price if you look at the per sheet price. Roughly 5 US$ each when you buy the 25 sheet pack. That is the smaller size by the way.

What is the actual size of that? , I get 20 sheets of Schoellershammer paper 25 X 35 cm or 10" X 14" for roughly $18 or 99 cents per sheet, or are you referring to the board?

Your right, it does say board. What is the deal with that? you have to get a board and the paper? Why would you want 25 boards?

Board is just a thick version of the paper, or the paper mounted on a board (read that somewhere not sure if that's true). Just measured it, it's about 2 mm.
So you don't have to get board and paper, you can just work on the board. Advantages are it's less easily damaged and it doesn't need support (stiff enough and thick enough to stand upright on it's own)

I use the paper because it's a lot cheaper than the board, I also have the same size as you linked here but since I have the paper instead of the board it was obviously double the price of smaller sheets I have.
If you use board you can hang it without a frame, other than that paper is just as good and has the same qualities.

Thanks for the advice. I have been wanting to start using paper instead of canvas but the stuff I got at Hobby Lobby was soaking up paint too easily for my taste.

I use the paper with Com-art paints and totally love it, I generally do quite a lot of scratching and foe me it works great, if you can find the small pad I mentioned it's defiantly worth your while to get a hold of it just to try it out.

I'm not sure how it works in the states, but I asked a few companies for some samples (thinking I might get lucky with one of them) and was quite surprised that most of them sent me something, only tiny pieces, but enought to experiment on, and a few A5 sized ones. Well worth a go to try it out. Both the board and the paper is good stuff.

I will have to look again, never been able to find it in small quantities in the States... Id love to try it. 5 bucks a board is not TOO bad.
The best paper I can find local and i have tried EVERYTHING, has been plain stratmore 300 series Bristol.. I think i am going to order the 500 series bristol and see if that is better since it states for airbrushing.
