My husband asked me to paint his brother’s bike shop logo but make the pipe look real, like chrome. It was a big fail but I did learn that Createx Pearlized paint doesn’t play well with 4012 reducer. Spayed windex on the whole thing and started over. The windex left a rather cool looking texture though. Used my Iwata Neo at 45 psi for the black pearl , and mixed silver pearl and black pearl for the brownish color.

Not a bad try. the problem with chrome is that you will need a reference. Just a contoured pipe is not a problem. You need the reflections that makes chrome.

Thanks. Yeah, I’m not great at pulling images from my brain, haha. I’ve never done chrome.

Like Andre said you need a chrome reference as chrome it self has no colour

I find blue violet , white and Payne’s grey useful colours for chrome, like everyone has said, reference is best!

Thanks! I may try chrome at some point with a good reference. My heart wasn’t in this one so that was part of the problem.

Do you know what the issue was with the Pearl colours and 4012? As far as I know it should have been fine, but I haven’t tried their pearl colours yet.

The color went on very spotty and uneven as if there were contamination all over the aluminum panel, even though I cleaned it very well. That is when I sprayed the whole thing with windex , wiped all the paint off and started over. On the bottle it says use transparent base 5601 with smaller tip size AB, and for hard surfaces mix with 4030. I didn’t have either of those so I sprayed it with the Iwata Neo at 45 psi and it went on fine second go around.
